Well Hi

I guess I should start with the requisite hello, my name is Brittany.

I'm 25 years old now and wasn't actually diagnosed with autism until I was 23, of course the diagnosis was high functioning. Though, I'm not entirely certain that those words really describe what it's like. Anyway, it's answered a lot of questions in my life about behaviors and mannerisms. Sadly enough it also answered a lot of reasons I struggled so much growing up.

It's a weird thing to be diagnosed later in life, but I never really questioned it and my home life wasn't great so neither did my parents. Getting the diagnosis has actually been a curse more than a boon of understanding, often anyway. People treat you differently, even ones you've known for years. Employers get wary about hiring you. Others just act astounded as though it's something terrible and you don't seem terrible so there's no way you have it.

Anyway, my therapist actually suggested that I find a forum of some sort to reach out and sort of figure things out. I found this website and well here I am.
