What I didn't see

I may have said something similar before, but it still drives me crazy sometimes (literally), within the context of local car shows...

Often on a Monday I'll check through the Facebook group for Alberta car shows and browse photos people took at shows, most often a show I didn't attend, and get agitated seeing a super rare classic car that I didn't get to see... I'm a wee bit of "car watcher" like some people do bird watching

Yet admittedly my life doesn't revolve around just classic cars, I chose to spend Sunday not attending local car shows, instead attending an event for Ukraine Independence Day (concert in a park)... But then on the other side of the coin I do agitate over what I didn't see because of a choice I made... And I know I can't be everywhere all at once

Speaking of which, there is one classic truck that keeps eluding me, I've seen so many photos of it but never actually seen it! Apparently it was at a show not that far from where I live, yet again I didn't see it! This is what it looks like (obviously not my photo), a Bedford CA street rod, a fairly unusual truck to build a street rod around, and don't ask me when the last time I saw a Bedford CA van...

That is an unusal truck for sure!

I kinda get your dilema. I eventually changed how I approached my hobby so as not to get so invested and obsessive about it. For me it was a matter of ending the physical hunting (for what I collect) at garage sales, flea markets and auctions to entirely online hunting.

That method wouldn't work in your situation. But perhaps you can try to put things more in perspective, and accept you can't always be in the right place at the right time. And decide to be satisfied with your choice, because you do have to make a choice. There is a saying: 'Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.'

I know... This summer I've seen photos only of a particularly rare truck I've never photographed an example of, only saw an example of once many years ago

Yet I also retain a strong interest in the local cultural scene as well, while some of my friends through the car show scene go to car shows almost constantly, in the summer it seems to be the only thing they do...

And as they head off to the biggest shows, I sometimes simply do something else instead, even something really simple and quiet...

Wow, what a rare beauty. I love the joke "obviously not my photo"

I never understood why people thought slammed cars look good. I smile with glee when I hear impractically lowered cars bottoming out.

I am learning not to regret the things I have missed, whether an event or within my life. I want to free up my thoughts.

Awwwww. The second I laid eyes on that Bedford Van I knew I had seen it before- long ago.

A cherished memory of one of my first Matchbox cars...circa 1961. Also reminds me of when I lived so close to the Canadian border as a kid. When crossing into Canada we could see all kinds of British cars we'd never see here. Especially in Victoria...where everything looked so "European".

I do have a diecast toy Corgi Bedford CA van with Kodak badges on it... It stays on my desk

We did have a wider variety of British family cars here in Canada due to being part of British Commonwealth
