What Is Your Favorite Holiday Album?

You know, that one lady we met that one time.

Post your favorite album or carols that you like to to listen to around the holidays.

I especially like listening to "Christmas In the Stars". It's very fun. It's all music sung by the stars of the original Star Wars trilogy. It's nothing like the Star Wars Holiday Special. They're actual songs about Christmas.

(PS In the 1980s, my dad used to love watching the Star Wars Holiday Special every year when it came on TV. He would eagerly call me into the living room, and when I saw what was on, I would start howling with tears because it was so boring and mind-numbingly stupid. He'd crack up laughing as I ran out the door, crying. It's pretty funny looking back.)

My parents loved Cheech and Chong, and our holiday tradition was to listen to "Santa Claus and His Old Lady". I loved listening to it so much as a child, I could probably recite most of it.

But when it comes to real Holiday Carols, it's fun to sing the jolly ones with my daughter, but to play in the house, for enjoyment, I like the real classics.

Good King Wenceslas

The Holly and the Ivy

O Come O Come Emmanuel

O Holy Night

I especially like this one. I think it is the oldest Christmas Carol that anyone knows of:
Jesus Refulsit Omnium

There are many others that I adore, but these are just a few.

my favorite album is It's Christmas Man, by Brave Combo. That said an ancient song that still gives me chills is Gaudete. First the version I love

Then with lyrics translated

A few of my favorites.

;)

This version is really beautiful. Always makes me cry a little.

My favorite Christmas song, but can’t find a good version, so here ya go:

This is one of my favorites too but this version is hilarious. Might not be some of your cup of tea but I enjoy it. Lol

I don't have a favorite album necessarily--just a pile of miscellaneous singles. But if I can get some needles in time for Christmas I am going to be firing up the old record player again with a huge stack of old 78rpm Christmas music.

"Adeste Fideles/ O Come All Ye Faithful"
"The Star of Bethlehem"
"God rest ye merry, gentlemen"
"Hark! the herald angels sing"
"Angels from the Realms of Glory"
"Ring out the Bells for Christmas" (1913 Edison Blue Amberol cylinder edition)
"Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht"
And many many more that I am sure I will play until the upstairs neighbors are furious, as long as I can get some needles and get my stalled gramophone started up again.

And if I don't?

Then I'll play them on the pump-organ instead! Or why not both!

but this is the sound beginning at 2:40
this is commercial tv so its small parts journalistic but an even song service

Absolutely no contest for me/us. I personally can't think of anything better. It's a set in stone family tradition for us. For my own enjoyment, I also always play myself the song Jesus Christ by Big Star on Christmas Day.

Oh wow! This is great! It's extending into 2022!

Halloween's over, so that means it's Christmas. Merry Christmas!

Sometimes I listened to this when I was driving home for Christmas. This song is like a warm blanket you can wrap around yourself.
