So, are you identified by one type of music or do you love it all?

Rock God?
Little Bit County?
Rap Star?
Death Metal Maniac?

Personally, I love all sorts of music because it is all a diverse range of self expression designed to show me thoughts and ideas I never contemplated.

ALL music ?speaks? to me!

I like a bit of everything really, the only types of music I tend not to listen to are hip hop, RnB, rap etc but there are still the occasional songs from those genres that I appreciate. If I had to choose I'd probably lean more towards classical, steampunk and jrock/visual kei. I'm particularly fond of anything with violins or pianos, I love the sound of them so anything featuring them heavily is bliss to me.

While, in general I do listen to a variety of music(styles), there's a really broad red line of things that can lead it.

In general I have an interest in unusual composition, ranging from time signature to weird intonation of instruments. I like a lot of the so-called "mathcore" subgenre together with the more progressive/experimental metalcore bands, as well as a lot of IDM/Glitch. In general I listen to some metal/rock and a lot of electro stuff. Add in some postmodern classical stuff (and with that a lot of moviescore stuff), electropunk, some goth, rap, aggrotech, a bit of death metal, 8-bit, black metal, metal-/hardcore, industrial... and we're kinda set. Oh.. and some EBM in general. And dubstep; but that kinda falls under electronic I guess. Bring on the bashing of dubstep, lol... (i'll post some examples of styles/favorites below). And then there's a few random bands I really like which might be a weird combination of all or any styles I like.

Weirdly enough, according to last.fm the band I listen to most if Abney Park, which is if anything mostly asociated with steampunk, but due to a limited number of artists doing that, I don't know if I can call that a genre already.

I do not take responsibility for labeling bands/styles wrong, just like I don't know if I'm posting the most accurate songs to describe a genre, I'm posting what I like and what apparently to a lot of people falls under genre X or Y. The entire "label" thing, while it is something people frown upon... I can't deal with "I can't label it". What does it sound like? Even "a vacuum cleaner on roids mixing in with someone pounding grandma's pots and pans" still is a label. Sometimes I use that to describe early 90's black metal, which in general had really bad recordings, lol.

Due to not being able to spam the entire bunch of videos from youtube, nor being able to stream everything, links to youtube for your pleasure ;) a lot might be NSFW, so keep that in mind ;)

Mathcore/Experimental metalcore

IDM/Glitch

Electropunk

Black metal

8-bit

EBM

Aggrotech

Dubstep

And some assorted artists I like in general

That's it for now... And I srsly spend a large amount on this post, lol

Thrash metal!!!!!!!!!!! :D Old-school Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, BTP, Devastation, Nuclear Assualt. And classic country like Brooks & Dunn and Brad Paisley.

My boyfriend says "country."

I do listen to a lot of country.
I also listen to a lot of rap.
And I love dance music as well as rock, but lately rock has sucked.

Thought I'd add some examples of the things I listen to the most (plus a couple of the most listened to songs, if I can find them on youtube);

Abney park - Sleep Isabella, Emperor's wives, The wrong side, Dear Ophelia

Emilie autumn - Unlaced, Dominant, misery loves company, the art of suicide

Vanessa mae - warm air
Ed Alleyne johnson - oxford suite (I bought a cd from him when he was busking on the streets of liverpool and have listened to this one song about a million times)
Malice mizer - regret (if I had to choose just one song to listen to ever again it would be this)
Unsraw - Kyuumin Oyasumi, Gate of death

The street beats - I wanna change, eternal rock n roll
thee michelle gun elephant - akage no kelly, drop
Gogo7188 - Jet ninjin
Mikabomb - Contact Tokyo, hey man

The dresden dolls - coin operated boy, girl anachronism, sing

Cradle of filth - creatures that kissed in cold mirrors, at the gates of midian(2 songs I had at my wedding, I walked down the aisle to 'at the gates'), nymphetamine

I have sooooo many more but I'd be here all night, those are the main songs/types I listen to with a bit of other stuff thrown in.

I like many sorts of music but my heart lies in Goth, heavily, 80's Goth such as: The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode, The Smiths.

Somewhere between Ray Stevens* and Brad Paisley.
