What were your favourite countries when you were eight?

I remember loving to look at our atlas.

I loved it when I discovered Hungary, as I had been hungry.

Then I discovered Turkey.

I just loved thinking of the 2 countries and laughing.

What were your favourites countries aged eight or lower?

What are your first memories of looking at an atlas?

(I kept looking at the atlas and was a bit disappointed - no chicken, or chocolate. Wonder if anyone has country synaesthesia)

I traveled a lot as a child and the only time I ever looked at an atlas was in the 'learning about the country we're about to visit' thing we always did before a trip.

I can't say I ever had a favourite country, but I think I was 8 when we went to Singapore which I enjoyed.

I loved Italy, I visited it a few times as a kid and remembered the friendly people, beautiful landscape and terrific food fondly.

Australia. Mostly because I wanted to go there to train dolphins. Only the specific kind of Burrunan Dolphins mind you  Because kids.

Don't think that I had a favourite country when I was that age, that I can recall. It was more about the shapes and colours and how they looked on the maps, their names as well fascinated me.

yes you and I are very much alike ,I wonder if it’s a north-eastern thing !everything being food orientated. I was more interested in a mystical land that was perfect ,Africa slightly interested me and Scotland, this is what I first saw , for anyone that isn’t aware! this is a British Empire map ,Published in 1963.

Egypt and Greece were my favorite countries to talk about because I wanted to be an archaeologist and wouldn’t stop telling people what I knew about their respective ancient civilizations. I wouldn’t shut up about Incas and Mayas either.

Does everyone have a maya thing at some point?

Chocolate.

No wheel,only in toys.

While I enjoyed looking at world atlases at that age, I don't recall having any one favorite country.

Though in terms of cartographic projection, even at that age I did recall a preference for Mercator Projection.

I guess I still do in my 60s.
