I didn't realize people considered Christmas as a time for costuming.
Agreed. In the USA, the most I've ever dressed up, at Christmastime, is a nice dress and styled hair. I have donned many Santa hats or reindeer antlers/candy cane headbands or barrettes.I didn't realize people considered Christmas as a time for costuming.
When I was ten I was an angel for the school Christmas presentation.
My mother made a robe and wings for me to wear.
Was a non speaking part.
I think I was chosen because I was the other tallest girl in my grade.
We had to stand for while all six grades went through their routines.
We have a fun tradition here called 'Julebukk'. It means Christmas Buck or Goat. You're 'Christmas bucking/goating'. We dress up in costumes and masks and walk around the neighborhood ringing peoples doorbells. And when they open no one says anything and people then try to guess who is hiding under the costumes. You can't speak because then they will of course recognize the voices. Sometimes people sing a Christmas song and is then rewarded with candy. And fun is had by all.

We had one of those ornaments we'd picked up in Germany I believe. Didn't realize we were inadvertantly worshipping Thor. Luckily one of the dogs ate it.
Yeah I have those straw goats in different sizes. Some hanging on the tree and one big enough to ride it around the livingroom. It's a very typical Christmas decoration.
Here's a big one in Sweden.

Online people seem to do the same. They choose between a reindeer character or a cute elf character or the funky grinch, the traditional Santa Claus/Odin or a joke twist on it.We have a fun tradition here called 'Julebukk'. The way I feel about Christmas, I would probably dress up as the Krampus.
Programmers make that mistake all the time.I didn't realize people considered Christmas as a time for costuming.
