Who here composes music, rap beats, or anything else, really? Do you believe your skills in that area are related to your autism in any way? Please post some samples of music you have created?
I never really thought I had much musical talent mostly because I'm a little dyslexic which makes note reading quite hard, I didn't make it past 3 blind mice on the piano with Mom.
However I decided take up guitar again and this time write my own songs so it would be more fun...(I'm a extremely creative person). Looking through the youtube clips on guitars etcetera... I found this evil little beast of a guitar called the Dobro resonator and I got the more rare round neck version that can play standard guitar too.
It is a slide guitar so it can wail and play cords both. B
But the sheet music for it is fairly limited as it is almost used exclusively for blues, So I am struggling with learning how to convert cords to bar cords, and figure out how to best convert note scales, my guitar is tuned in open D so everything is off like 2 bars. I also am playing 3 finger style with the 3 low string 3 high string split which changes things a little too, on certain strummings and note patterns. But I'm slowly getting it all sorted mostly by looking up stuff on youtube, I'm very close to being able to convert music strait acrossed with Tab notations and some scale conversions. This makes me very happy because I want to add some Russian, Gypsy and Spanish flavor to my music.
They have some lovely finger scroll work I'm after, allot of this music seems to be written in 6 note or so chunks, so writing new music may not be all that hard, I can pick my basic finger scroll tunes and cords for major points and then just scale them up or down to match the singing pitch for the words I want...more or less.
I have found with tab music notations I can see the musical patterns and systems much easier, so I'm able to use my auti pattern thing more on reading and writing. I don't have anything good enough to post yet but maybe later I can post some Tab samples so you get the feel. Tab looks something like this.
string 1:----2----------0--1-
string 2:------4----3-------
string 3:---------5--------1-
string 4:---------------------
string 5:---------------------
string 6:-0----------------0-
this would be read pick open bass string 6 with the thumb, pick string 1 with middle finger bar 2, then pick string 2 bar 4 with index finger, string 3 bar 5 with index finger, then bar 3 index? ( they switch fingers for speed, but I find it more confusing than it is worth), then back to string 1 open picked with middle finger, then a triple plucked cord: bass string 6 with thumb, string 3 with index, string 1 with middle finger, all plucked: at the same time with the slide bar directly over bar 1 for strings 1 and 3.
or you could do finger cords for 1 and 3.
