Who killed the night market... AKA... Why do people love boring music...

Perhaps slightly tongue in cheek, but thoughts from last night

Our largest (and out best) night market has been happening for over ten years, and I've been to many of them

For years the market was open until 11 PM, which worked great for me... I was usually there between roughly 9:30 and 11:00, my favourite time to wander the market... Suddenly this year it only went to 10 PM (ugh!)

I remember May arriving at the market at 9:45 thinking I had lots of explore, I obviously didn't get the memo and was ticked off and/or rather disappointed... Talking to one person I know who helps run the market, he suggested something about noise complaints for that last hour (huh?)... Talking to some longtime vendors, they were happy with that change as it always the slowest hour

Me? I like that last hour as it was the most likely to be dark given our northern climate, and the only real time to take actual night photos (me and my photography, maybe that's me being selfish too  )

For various reasons I missed markets in the two main summer months, and when I got back this month one thing was missing, a second music stage that hosted local singer-songwriters (ie. not the big bands on the main stage)... More to the point, my favourite music stage was the small, which is now nowhere to be found and I'm not sure why... Most of the music from the main stage just bores me, but it's where the beer garden is too so lots of people are at that stage... Perhaps the small stage was seen as just boring, possibly attracted less attraction, but yet I saw lots of people enjoy that smaller stage (poof, gone)

I know change happens, but sometimes that change is negative, at least for me this night market is less interesting than previous years... And one of my favourite events doesn't have the same draw it used to, and there really isn't anything to replace it that I can see

Disappointed... And I know it's out of my control... But still very disappointing...
