Why do people keep falling for it everytime?

Like whenever there is a famous band the former GF of the lead singer will write a memoir years after the band breaks up and her ex dies about her life with her former bf and her experiences watching the band get famous on the sidelines. Everytime this happens it's an excuse for that woman to cash in on the popularity of that band. Why do people keep falling for her money making scheme everytime?

Because they want insider information on the band they love!

And they want the dirt. ;)

There are a few artists and bands that I probably would read the book of who ever also. :D

Before readers can "fall" for such a story, there has to be a publisher who thinks they can make it happen with a good profit. It's no secret how popular and profitable fictitious soap operas and tabloid publications can be with the public, let alone the real deal.

From what I see, band breakups have always drawn a fair amount of interest going back to Yoko Ono's influence in exacerbating the subsequent demise of the Beatles.

The Tabloid press would tell you the moon is made of Green Cheese if they thought it'd sell papers.

Dig somewhat deeper and you will find that the "music industry" uses talented people (under contract) to extort money from anyone & everyone.

Yeah and remember in the UK Pop charts back in the early to mid 80's, almost nobody sang live on stuff like Top of the Pops, they all mimed to Studio recorded records.

I've heard it alluded to many times, when it comes to the lovers or girlfriends or wives of famous band members. That they were integral in some way to the bands success. Either by giving them new ideas, becoming their muses, adding their own perspectives so that the bands appealed to their target audiences. And giving it freely without any credit.
Often, people who become involved with bands, or are attracted to musicians, have some degree of musical or creative ability that are able to express in such an environment. Perhaps they write the books later, to document it, or detail what they contributed without original credit.

Indeed. Lots of tabloid fodder behind who "Layla" was.

Be careful what- or who you wish for.

I always wondered what was behind the Beatles'/George Harrison's song "Don't bother me".

Yoko Ono, Pattie Boyd and even Astrid Kirchherr all had stories to tell about the Beatles. On occasion truth can be more interesting than fiction.

Many present during events of historical value or popular interest write books about it. If you witness something closely you might be be tempted to as well. Needing money is practically universal.

If you have an interest in a certain group or singer, usually you want to know details about their
personal life. The who, whats, when, where and whys.
Every celebrity has a following. They know it will sell to that following anything that is put out there.
