WiFi in bars

Don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but I visited a city and a couple of bars had no WiFi. I wouldn't have entered if I had known before hand. If I have no book, a paper or WiFi I am a bit uncomfortable and disappointed I can't play my games online, check my Facebook, emails and check anything else. How do bars with no WiFi expect someone to do track and trace if they have no data either!

Sorry, but I am going to tease you a bit,...you are showing your age.:D:p Can you imagine there was a day in which people went to restaurants and bars,...and didn't have cell phones, computers, and WiFi,...some didn't even have a television? People looked at each other, spoke to each other, told bad jokes, laughed, drank and ate.

I know! I can't go ten minutes without playing my favorite japanese rpg on my phone: Doki Doki Morning - Pop Up Surprise! Thankfully the school where I work as night janitor gave me admin privileges on the WiFi so I can sign in between scrubbing the toilets and throwing saw dust on vomit spills. It really helps me get through those long cold dark hours. That, and the Pervitin I'm taking now.

@thundabutt

Are you using the word "Pervitin" generically,
the way people refer to facial tissues as "Kleenex"
or gelatin desserts in general as "Jello"?

Or what?

@thundabutt I assume you got the “Pervitin” from your WW2 memorabilia buddies, because no doctor is prescribing that. Are you buying it from them?

no, there is a large communal bowl we just draw handfuls from. You toss a few dollars in to the kettle and it goes towards the chemist member for ingredients, though sometime we are asked to contribute psuedoephedrine we buy form CVS. It's a lot simpler and cheaper than prescription and in any event SSI won't pay for it.

Alright. You’re aware you’re taking a huge gamble with your mental health though, right? Taking stimulants (very addictive ones at that) that weren’t prescribed to you when you’re actively psychotic is extremely unwise. Talk to your psychiatrist, seriously. And now I’ll stop hijacking this topic.

I avoid public wifi.
You never know which people sat around you in a pub or coffee shop are techies who can hack into your account.
My partner is techie, it's his job, and it's scary what people can do.
I would explain it better but technology is lower down on my list of interests so I don't feel in a position to explain it.
Just stay safe and avoid public wifi.
I use mobile data, in summer, as my tariff is so cheap, I buy bundles, some moths, not everyone's idea, but I feel reluctant to change tariffs, I use sim-only and buy my own phone. Currently 2nd hand iPhone XR which I love.
It has a name, "Littlest"
This is because I have three devices, MacBook called Big Mac or Fleetwood, iPad is called little one, as it's a mini, and phone being the littlest is called littlest.
I cannot see me buying a smart watch right now, but if I did, I would probably call that "tiniest"

The Gasthaus Wilder Mann in Salzberg has a specific "no phones / electronics" policy on the basis that if you're at their establishment, you're there to eat, drink talk and be merry :-)
