Women's Sexuality Study for 18-30 year old women

Hello! I recently launched my dissertation project, the Women's Sexuality Study, and I am seeking women 18-30 years old with an autism spectrum identity to participate. I hope you will considering taking part!

Introduction
- My name is Hillary, and I am a Doctoral Student in Clinical Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Before starting graduate school, I worked in the community for three years with adults with a wide range of abilities and disabilities. I designed my dissertation study, the Women's Sexuality Study, to address a pretty significant research gap in sexuality on the autism spectrum, particularly for high-functioning young women. I am seeking people who identify as women, or who have a more fluid gender identity (e.g., transgender, genderqueer), between 18 and 30 to participate in an online survey. The survey will ask questions about different aspects of sexuality and well-being. Taking the survey will take about 20 minutes -- maybe a little more or a little less. This is volunteer study and your participation is completely confidential. You do not have to provide any information that you are not comfortable sharing. People who participate will have the option of receiving a summary of research findings after the Women's Sexuality Study is finished.

About the research - This study will look at different aspects of sexuality (e.g., sexual history, sexual orientation, exposure to sexual education) among young women with and without a spectrum identity. I hope that this research will raise awareness of, and respect for the sexualities of people on the spectrum. Also, the information gathered in this study will be useful to individuals on the spectrum, family members, teachers, therapists, and other professionals. In the future, it will be used to design education programs.

Contact details - If you have any questions about the study, please email me at [email protected]. I would love to hear from you!

Hi all,

I just wanted to say an open thank you to everyone who has helped me with the Women's Sexuality Study, either by participating or by spreading the word to individuals who might be eligible and interested. I am still looking for about 10 more participants, in order to reach my goal of 100, and would really appreciate your help. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you again!
Hillary

Well now you need at least nine more.

Minor question, do you know why the question is always "is embarrassment one of your greatest fears"? Have you ever seen a "do you hate confrontation" question on an autism related quiz? Because I simply find somebody trying to humiliate me merely annoying, but I really dread the attack/abuse aspect of a confrontation because of how plain mean some people can be.

Thank you for your interest and for taking the time to post a question. It means a lot to me!

The question, "Is embarrassment one of your greatest fears?" is one of three questions in the study that has to do with social anxiety. I can definitely see how fear of embarrassment and fear of confrontation might be related, but different in some important ways. I have not seen a question about confrontation on an autism-related quiz (although that does not mean that it does not exist!) However, I have seen questions about confrontation on other, longer social anxiety-related quizzes. I hope this helps answer your question; please let me know if you have any others. Thank you again!

Ah, okay. So "embarrassment" is with short form and "confrontation" is with long form. Another excuse for me to go hunt and feed a research addiction. =)

Thank you too. And good luck with your dissertation! Continue to be this nice and curious, and I think you should have a bunch of happy patients when you get to officially and formally start your career.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement! Best wishes to you.
