Worried about toxicity from enamel tea kettle

I have been drinking tea from a tea kettle that has an enamel coating on the inside and I noticed today that the enamel is chipped. I have stopped using it, but I am worried that I may have developed damage from it, since I have been drinking tea a lot and just noticed it. Does anyone know about the toxicity and safety in cookware? It is a newer tea kettle.

Only real problem could see from that is a possible bowel obstruction. I am not sure of what the material of your teapot is, so can't tell you about the toxicity on it. I do know that Teflon coated pans make a toxic smoke if they get too hot, but no clue about what happens if you ingest it.

Just replace the teapot if the enamel is compromised. Or just pour water into a ceramic mug and microwave the water. I never use a teapot myself.
It's not that. It's that I have OCD and worry about having lasting permanent damage from it.

Heavy metals poisoning tends to occur over extended periods of time. I'd think a single nick in the enamel wouldn't produce a serious exposure. At least not with aluminum and steel compared to others.

Though if you're curious you can always look up the symptoms pertaining to various metals. Heavy metal poisoning tends to impact children much faster than adults.

I know with cookware if the interior non-stick surface begins to chip, that's when I replace it.

Now you mean the Tea Kettle, as in the thing to heat up on the stove? Assuming so, I would guess you only have a little over 1000 months left to live. ;) Your young, you'll be fine, The safest Tea kettle (and tea pots) are glass. Switch to those, live long and prosper.

Destilled water is healthy and thus, the boiling action, takes away any nasties.

What about going by how you feel? If you have noticed anything amiss, then take note.

There are like 9000 you are exposed to with little regulation. There is serious trouble with arsenic in rice for example. The more organic the worse. It is from chickens who were fed arsenic for birds flu and also contamination from past pesticides.
There are a mlion things. People are getting ill. Auto immune MS cancer .prison Planet
