Worst accident in flight history?

I have been watching air crash investigation and other shows lately.
But i don't understand why they say that almost every flight accident is the worst accident in flight history or familiar?
It is probbably something they say to make it more dramatic, and i'm probably overthinking this. But i feel it is still pretty annoying, to hear it all the time.

What do you think about this?

I think they over-dramatize anything. Watch a nature documentary, and I can guarantee at some point the guy will go on about how that varmint is the biggest and baddest in the world. I can't tell you if lions, hyenas, crocodiles, alligators, hippos, or sharks have the strongest bite, but I do know I don't want to be bit by any of them.

My favorite crash though was the pilot who relied on his old days in a glider and set the plane down gentle in some bay in the northeast. At least, I think it was the northeast... I don't know if he was that good or the conditions were that lucky, but that was pretty cool!

Objectively I'd think in the case of air tragedies it simply comes down to the number of fatalities per occurrence. However I can see how the media would continue to skew such a simple dynamic in pursuit of audience shares.

They would make it interesting for people that need information.

Is it the "Gimli Glider Air Canada Flight 143" you mean?
If it is the "Gimli Glider Air Canada Flight 143" it is my favorite also, it is more of that everything ends good.

My flying instructor told me "The worst crash you will have is the one you don't walk away from, everything else is a rough landing".

I read somewhere that since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the occurrence of words like 'catastrophe', 'disaster', 'terror', etc has increased 1000 fold as the media suddenly had little else that was actually so terrible to report on.. and in the end, it's all about selling news.. such headline words always attract attention, yet so often lead to rather mundane news.

Worst crash in history was the crash of one plane with just one fatality, that took a certain person out of my life permanently.

Hmmm...Hey Crozix I guess it's all in your point of view. A nice guy in my church bought a ultralight about a year ago. Anyways he was hot to try it out so he hops into it and takes off cold,(no training), in front of his wife and his girls, and he power stalls it in the first turn off the runway, splat! Broke his back and a bunch of other stuff arms, legs and nearly severed his left foot.:screamcat: So for him I'm guessing it was the worst crash ever.o_O
