WP members, let us know who you are!

OliveOilMom

I have some missing posts.
I thought I'd start a thread for current or ex WP members to make their presence known. If you have been or are currently a WrongPlanet member, post here and let us know who you were there if you have a different user name here. If you have a different avatar, tell us what it was or post a picture of it. It would be cool to see who all is here.

If you have left WP, you can give a brief reason why you left but this isn't a thread to trash WP, it's members, the mods, admin or Alex. If there was conflict or you were banned, just say that there was conflict or something else brief that isn't derogatory, you don't need to publish the details you can share them in PMs if someone wants to ask. I don't want to stir up any animosity between the sites, it's just interesting to know if you are talking to someone you already know.

This is volunteer only, there is absolutely no pressure to speak up and if you don't want to let people know you're here, this is just for fun.

If anyone is or was on AFF, you can post that here too, whether or not you were on WP.

Obviously, I'm OliveOilMom. I've left there, probably forever but maybe just for a time. I didn't like the feel of how the forum was lately. This isn't to be confused with my absence starting last fall. I was gone from fall until the end of January because I just got tired of the internet altogether and rarely even checked FB or my email and wasn't online much at all. Now that I'm back online somewhat I find that I like having a forum there to read during break times while I'm getting up and doing housework and other things.

Next?

I'm on WP (someone there linked to this website, and so I ended up here too), I'm mostly posting in the Off-the-Wall/Forum Games part. I don't really mix with the other sub-forums except for the General Autism Discussion.
Same name, same avatar.

My original introduction to Aspie forums was WP, same name and avatar, but I never felt comfortable. It was probably all to new to me then. Someone mentioned AC and I came here and instantly felt at home, it was actually quite bizarre. I have The Penguin to thank for that, he was in there sharing his story with me straight away, made me feel right at home.

I left Wrong Planet because it was not friendly. When I was there the people were not nice. They were aggressive in Chat. I did not feel safe and I was surprised aspies would act like that with other aspies. I was disappointed and a little sad about that.

I used WP for a brief period when I was researching AS, under the name "Nesf" but I didn't stay long and haven't been active on it for well over a year. I stopped using it because it was way, way too busy, with about 20 new threads per day, and I just couldn't keep up. Also, it wasn't particulary friendly. I once started a new thread, and a few hours later it was already buried under the pile of threads which had been added since mine, nobody saw it and I only got one, or maybe two responses. Very disappointing. I bumped it, but it still got ignored. I think that if you're a newbie and you start a thread or post something, people don't recognise you and aren't so likely to respond. But if your are a long established member, then people will pay attention to you. In some respects, it felt quite cliquey, and I didn't like that - I spent a lot of my life avoiding cliques, and if I see this kind of behaviour on forums as a newbie, it will put me off.

I was on WrongPlanet. I left because I was tired of the bugged up website. I haven't felt that I belonged for a few years now. I've figured that this would be a more positive place.

I was on WP briefly, maybe a week. Left because it's overly busy for someone who wants spare time for other things.

I followed you here too, lol. It's a nice change of pace here because people seem a lot more mature in these parts, I feel I could actually have productive discussion with like-minded aspies rather than just try too hard to give advice to people I feel might just be trolling.

Either way, I have the same avatar. Look for the guy responding to troll threads.

I joined every forum on AS I could find. I lurked for a bit, particularly on WP as it's about the largest, but found it too impersonal and, at times, childishly aggressive. I feel right at home on AC though.

I also joined WP but found it too aggressive. I am grateful for the gentler environment here.

I'm still an active member on WP. I came over here because of the more recent technical issues on WP after the migration to the new version of the site. I'll still be posting in both places.

I went by Pileo and I use the same avatar. I still lurk from time to time, but after finding other sites like this one, I'm finding myself visiting it less and less. I find people here are more nicer, less extreme, and the webdesign is more modern. I love I can change the font size and even the font. All without code clutter. It's awesome!

I was on WP for a LONG time, starting in 2008. My username started with the letter "p". I finally decided to come over here. I never liked WP that much, but stayed because there was no place else for aspies. I noticed the cliquishness too. I deleted a whole bunch of what I wrote about what's wrong with WP, apparently OOM wouldn't approve so I will respect that.
