Wrong group chat

Member
I just sent an inappropriate joke in my class group chat because I thought it's my friend's group, and I just realized that in a few minutes after I deleted that. I got so panicked that I didn't see who's already saw my message. My teacher asked about it, and he used some really corny emoji when I responded to it, I think he already saw that.

I want to disappear.

I think everyone will do something like this sometime in their lives. I know it feels bad, though. Try to laugh it off if you can, you are not alone @Lauran.

Just a day or two ago I sent my brother a video of some extravagant AI that had to do with political satire. I didn't focus on the content so much as the technical quality of the video.

Unfortunately what amused me so much was not my brother's reaction. He was solely focused on the content and was definitely not amused at all.

But then with my brother, "Ya win some, ya lose some". My bad.

I understand how you feel. I once made an inappropriate joke on another forum I was on, not really considering the consequences. I posted it because other people in the thread were also doing so, so it was a case of "monkey see, monkey do".
I got a warning from an angry mod, and then a few members hated me after that, even after I did everything I could to make things right; apologising, admitting I'd made a mistake, expressing guilt, and even requesting a temporary ban to give everyone a chance to cool down so that we can all move on. But their attitude was "you made an inappropriate joke, you have to live with the consequences for the rest of your life and beyond the grave", and it just scarred my reputation and got me all worked up and angry after that.
Even when I posted on a Facebook group about my mistake and the anxiety it was causing me, the people there even shamed me and had a go at me. So really I was treated like I had committed a murder when all I did was post a joke on an internet forum that I didn't think was that inappropriate at the time. It was an act of impulse but people just argue that you can't be impulsive online because you "have time to think about it" before posting. Not always, especially when you have ADHD and an addiction to online posting. It's a bit like saying people can't impulsively buy things online because they have time to think about it first. Um, no, doesn't quite work like that. I can pick up my phone and type out a post (if it's short) before you can finish saying Jack Robinson.

But hopefully your friends aren't that sensitive over something relatively minor and they will move on.
