Zoom Call Blackouts

You know, that one lady we met that one time.

Oy! This is the fifth zoom chat we've had to endure in the past two weeks. It's the third this week!

After the first ten minutes, my mind begins wandering, and I just don't retain a lick of information from them. It's especially bad if there's more than one speaker on the screen.

I try to write down meticulous notes, and I tell myself to mindfully focus, but after the zoom chat, I forget almost everything, and often the context of the notes I took.

If they weren't required, I wouldn't do them at all.

Is this an aspie thing? Can anyone relate? Any advice on retaining knowledge during zoom chats?

You can record your screen while you zoom to watch it back later, on a windows computer atleast.

There are settings where all you can see is the speaker, even if there is more then one speaker... And if you view full screen while there is a screen share for a speaker, you can minimize that to just the speaker

All of this is far less distracting, and having said that hopefully we can return to live meetings and speakers very soon!

I use a utility called Snagit. It records your screen or any section of screen you choose as an MP4 that you can view and hear later. My eyes always start to glaze over after a few minutes of a meeting, whether in person or Zoom. I keep enough awareness to nod and grunt at the appropriate times. It is because people are talking at you but you have minimal involvement. ADD maybe?
