Acting

How old is your daughter now?

She's just turned 7 and I'm so excited because I've found her a local performing arts school that will not break the bank. I've booked her in for the summer school/performance and she'll be doing 2 hours a week starting September, she's so excited!

Have you ever considered going into film and television, since I imagine that's not as confronting as theatre? What is the work that you do now?
I just haven't got the people skills to do anything like that. I'm not working at the moment, I used to work in accoutancy but gave that up when I moved south to get married/have a baby. At the moment I'm throwing all my creativity into my book series, the first of which should hopefully be off to the publisher's in the next couple of months so fingers crossed they like it.

Oh, wow. I hope you get published. I'm writing a novel as well, and also hope to get it published one day.

What is your series about?

Oh, and I hope your daughter enjoys the performing arts school, its sounds great.

It started out as a joke, I'd read the twilight series and by book 4 I was swearing out loud at how ridiculous it was and that I could write better all you needed was a love triangle, supernatural creatures and lots of teen angst, my husband dared me so last summer I wrote the first book on paper(and found I really enjoyed doing it). Then when typing it up I realised how long a book it would be so split it into 2 parts, I have the basic plot written out for book 3 but I need to research more character names, myths & legends and things like that before I get into it. I'm not very good at summarising what the series is about so I'll just nab a bit from an email that I wrote to an acquaintance about it....
It will be a series of books, this is the first one, without giving too much of the plot away there are 4 worlds involved, the vampire world Bujo, the fairy world Keijut, Farkosak is the werwolf world and finally there is a lizard world called Draconia. All mythical creatures come from one of those 4 worlds, dragons, fairies, vampires, phoenix etc etc they are all part of alien worlds and because we have so many myths and legends of those creatures on earth I thought rather then them being just supernatural they could actually be different alien races each one with a purpose for coming to the earth, some tried to inhabit part of earth like the fairies (which will be were the legend of atlantis comes from), the vampires will have tried to live here openly during ancient greek times which is where the myths of gods and goddess' come from (because the vamps are so beautiful and godlike and were essentially immortal), they of course brought animals from there planet with them like the cerberus, minotaur, dragons, etc...oops said too much ;) it's very very detailed and I'm trying to explain all of the supposedly magical things from myths and legends but within the context of a love story with a dash of intergalactic world wars, spells, curses, there's just so much that I can't fit it all into one book so the first book will focus on the vampires, the second on the fairies, the third will bring the werewolf planet into the story and the fourth will focus on a huge war being waged between the 3 first planets and the terrifying lizard people (they will be humanoid like in the TV series 'V') the outcome of which will decide the fate of earth. The rest of the book series will be set before the first book, it will focus on how it all began, the starting point that ended up with the events of the first 4/5 books and of course like I mentioned all of the little side stories that are touched on in the first 4 books

I put a couple of small sections of it on here (it's since been re-edited as I wasn't happy with it, but you get the gist) http://www.aspiescentral.com/obsessions-interests/39-storywriting-3.html
