Is anyone being directly affected by the new health care insurance? If so, how? Any benefits in the plan that you can see?

Not yet, but I have heard from my friends at other jobs that hours are being cut back and or layoffs are occurring. The owner of my company told us that since we already have really good insurance that nothing should change for us. My deductible is $1500 but that is because I have a health savings plan and whatever I don't spend on medical expenses carries over and is kind of like a supplemental retirement plan (at least that's the ideal).

I did hear (but I don't know if it's true, because I haven't been following this closely) that next year the ACA will require employers to provide insurance and if so, that could have a negative impact regarding jobs and hours worked. One thing I have learned after being in the workplace all my adult life is that the ONLY thing that you can count on as being true is what is written on your pay stub AFTER it is cashed or goes to direct deposit (and unfortunately sometimes not even then, but that's another story). It's not a matter of will you be lied to, because you will be. And I suspect the lies are just beginning regarding ACA.

Spinning Compass (SC for short): I've actually been following it for awhile (I'm obsessed with world news) and its believed that the new health care was brought about to help bring in a "one world order" and globalized health system. Nothing about it is good (Congress has excluded itself from the plan, as well as, certain states and businesses while other businesses are being penalized (Hobby Lobby - for religious reasons). There is no incentive for everyone to buy the insurance - a single person can pay about $600 penalty and not get the insurance while others will pay a higher amount for the insurance and have at least a $5000 deductible. There are so many loopholes that certain people can use that the ones paying for everyone else are going to be the middle class. I believe it will completely bankrupt the country and possibly bring about a civil war between states - some states are trying to see how they can separate from it and the government control.

My friend, Jim said the exact same thing. In fact, he's taken measures to prepare for such an event and has purchased land up in the hills of Tennessee.

As for the Affordable Healthcare Act, it hasn't affected me in any great way. I have "fair" coverage through my employer. If I were married, it would be different. The way I understand it, it's anything but affordable and just short of useless. I have found that because of it, a lot of doctors (family doctor) are not accepting new patients. I was fortunate to find the one I did before the law went into effect. I've called just about every therapists in town, but none are accepting new patients despite what the BC/BS site or their websites say. The closest is Birmingham, and I'm not will to drive about 100 miles a couple times a week to share my problems with someone. I can do that here and save the drive and money.:)

I dont want to just crap on someones beliefs. I totally totally totally think government spending is out of control, and we need to tighten government spending big time! But there is no way in heck that the idea of health care bankrupting the country and starting a civil war did not come from some right wing, fear mongering, propaganda machine news source. I bet a bazillion dollars on it.

How come they conveniently never report the fact that the US is the very last developed country IN THE WORLD to adopt a universal healthcare system and it works great for every other country that has it?? (excluding Greece)

Basic health service should not be a privilege, that is barbaric. Now there are tons of other social service programs that people are leaching off of that should be re-evaluated, but i think redistributing the burden of health care evenly among all citizens, even if it does fall on the back of my generation, is ultimately the best decision and hey The ACA will create middle class jobs, something this country needs.

I believe the existing legislation is ultimately financially unsustainable. However for the timed being, it is law. To make something like this work on a perpetual basis would require extreme changes in both policies and policy-making that I don't believe this nation is ready to commit to. At least not in my lifetime.

Outrageous premiums to be paid by either you out-of-pocket or your employer. Plus all co-payment issues. Or consider the tax, which may or may not amount to anything depending on your earned income, deductions and what you can itemize . After all, it's a tax- not a criminal fine.
