Ah the joys of dating!

Mattymatt

Imperfectly Perfect
I have to laugh because someone on an online dating site called me ugly. It's so ridiculous and far afield that I just burst out laughing in my apartment. That and I hadn't been called ugly in years, it was so childish coming from a 30 something with a 6 year old daughter. I shudder to think of what kind of adult that 6 year old will grow up to be. Ugly, I am not. LOL! I think I have a rather urbane, gentlemanly, educated look; as if I would be at home with a fire , a classic novel, a pipe with high quality tobacco, and a rather good bourbon.

Don't worry - she was probably just into "a rather Cobain (as in Kurt), punkish, ignorant look; as if her ideal man would be at home around the sort of fire one lights under a bridge, with a contemporary (porno) magazine, a crack pipe, high quality meth, and a rather good 6-pack of natty light."

See what I did there?

Scary thing is - that really is some girls' "type."

Anyway, I'm guessing she was nothing to write home about herself either. "Pretty" people are in my experience superstitiously afraid to use the word "ugly," as if it was contagious. if someone calls you ugly, then chances are she had nothing to lose/be superstitious about vis-a-vis her own looks.

I've always thought Kurt Cobain was rather handsome. And clean-cut he was not, but neither was he ignorant.

That aside, Matt, if that's you in your avatar, you're most definitely the opposite of ugly, so don't worry. :)

It was not my intent to disparage Mr. Cobain. I just was tweaking Matt's original wording/phrasing in an ill-advised effort to cheer him up and failed to read my finish product closely enough to realize I had (unintentionally) called Mr. Cobain ignorant. Apologies.

I know you all aren't going to believe this - I love Kurt Cobain. I really think he was a lost soul. Nirvana is and will always be my favorite band. :)

** Kurt probably just needed a REAL woman (like me, of course) to bring out the "Gentleman" in him. I definitely couldn't have taken him home to Mama in his condition. ;)

Matt, I am very sorry she said that. I can't think why someone would say that to anybody. I think you are nice looking, intelligent and charming. I can't understand people. It seems everyday I feel this way. Does anyone know why she would say what she did?

You laughed so maybe your feeling were not hurt. If I am right then I am glad you were not hurt by what she said and it is nice to laugh.

Maybe she's just learning the English language and got "ugly" mixed up with "handsome".
Or maybe the word "ugly" is the new word for "hot". These younger generation people are always meaning the opposite of what they say, you know. (That's NT's for you! A lot of times I can't even keep up. :p)

Thanks for your concern but I wasn't hurt at all because what she said just isn't true at all. It was so patently absurd that I laughed. There are very few ways to hurt me and I have a thick skin. If you make fun of my disability, thems fightin' words.

I am glad you were not hurt but I am so confused as to why she said that to you. If you understand why she said it, would you explain it to me?

I have no clue why this chick would say such a thing and I cannot say that I care either. She made a choice. Meh! ::shrug::

Or maybe shes a stupid, brain-damaged ***** whose opinion isn't worth jack. Im gonna go with that.

Some people think they have a license to say whatever they like. In some countries that is true. Still, what you say about someone else tells as much about you as that person. This chick was the ugly one - ugly inside for thinking she is the universal judge of what is handsome/ beautiful vs ugly. Her perspective is worth exactly nothing.
