Anyone like talking on Skype?

Being social for me is like explaining string theory to a wall. o_O I understand it more everyday and am not getting any better at using it! :D I would Skype but Video & Audio calls scare me. lol

This is me. I love Skype for chatting, but I don't want to make calls. I only use the calls so my 4 year old can talk to people sometimes (he generally won't talk on the phone, but he acts like people are actually in the room when they're on video). I can only think of one time in the last several years that I initiated a call because *I* wanted to use it.

My Internet sucks so obviously I can't do video chat...I used to use Skype more, but since, I think Kik has taken over as my go-to app for text chatting. I can't really figure out Skype's thing...when it comes to communication in this era, it seems to me like cloud-based communication would be far preferable to the PTP system that it looks like Skype still uses (for reasons that entirely elude me).

I use have to use Skype a lot for work. In some ways it's good because it eliminates eye contact issues, but in other ways it's harder because there are often problems with the internet and I find it hard to hear what the other person is saying. And if there is any crackling or other interference sounds it drives me absolutely mad. It's only marginally better than using a phone and very tiring if you talk for a long time.
