Are the Forums Usually Dead Around the Holidays?

@Autistamatic

Bake the sweet potatoes first.
Use a pumpkin pie recipe.

Don't fall for anything with marshmallows.

My mother was born in Louisiana and so was I.

Thanks :)

We may not celebrate it over here for obvious reasons, but I fancy getting a little taste of it in honour of our American cousins :)

This forum is fairly consistent in terms of its traffic, mainly because of the very diverse range of ages, backgrounds, lifelstyles and locations, which means that it naturally balances out.

Diverse locations and lifestyles means - so people are logging in all different times of day.
Diverse age groups - no quiet times around exam time, or marked difference between school/college vacation vs. termtime.
Diverse backgounds - some go to work, some stay at home, etc.

Because there is a large proportion of US members it's logical to think it might get a little quiet around Thanksgiving, but as pointed out, it won't be Thanksgiving anywhere outside the US. Add to that there are some members here who don't have people in their lives to share it with or are avoiding such gatherings so in terms of numbers it could well be business as usual on here.
Happy Thanksgiving to all you Americans out there though :)
If anyone's got a killer Sweet Potato Pie recipe, post it up btw. Never tried it but I'm curious and there's thousands of recipes online - don't know which to choose
Try this sweet potato casserole. It's been a tradition with my family since the first time my mom tried it.
cream 1/3 cup butter, 2 eggs, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla with 2 cups sweet potatoes and put in baking dish. top with 1/3 cup meltd butter, 1/2 cup flour, 1 cup brown sugar (1 cup pecans optional) and pour over sweet potatoes. bake at 350 for 35 minutes

I believe a problem with this forum's activity is that there are not enough thread starters. Personally 90% of my posts anywhere are replies. I rarely start threads. But I should start contributing more.

Yeah, Ezra.
I've been thinking the same thing.

Whaddya say we tag-team this?

Just give me something I can have an interesting opinion about. :)

I've started several threads and was beginning to feel guilty about it and, believe it or not, have tried to limit myself.

There is not limit as far as I know on the number of threads, you can make as many or as few as you want. I think that people find your threads interesting - so no reason to feel guilty about it, it's a good thing, not a bad thing. I wish I could make more.

The only problem with someone making "too many" original posts is if they are all basically about the same thing.

Like one person on another forum who's made umpteen new posts about not having a significant other. But even those still generate activity.

However imho no one can start too many posts that are about me.

Most forums do have a rule though that you can't do a topic on one thing and then 2 seconds later do another one, that could be classed as spamming.

The relevant question is though, does this forum have such a rule?
