Having been to Australia I should know the answer but I never noticed so I don't.
Is it clockwise or counterclockwise?
 
Well in the UK it's never "counterclockwise" as we officially call this "anticlockwise" and I'm unsure what they call it in Australia, but assuming you're still talking about the way water flushes down the toilet or a plug hole in the Southern Hemisphere then it's officially anticlockwise / counterclockwise due to Coriolis force, however this would only always be the case if there was no other forces at play which means that even in Australia it could still be clockwise (against popular belief).
