Beer

If I'm out and drinking alcohol, the drink of choice is usually beer. I really like trying new beers from all over, all types of breweries. I'm also especially fascinated with the bottles...but since I'm not much of a drinker, it hasn't exactly taken off. When I lived in TX, I could go to Whole Foods and get a single bottle of unusual beer and try it, but everywhere else you have to kind of invest in the pack, which I find annoying since I'm not a party-person.

I think my favorite (probably mostly for the bottle) is one called Delirium Tremens.

Yes - I love it.

I like my beer ice cold and find that it tastes best once I've consumed two beers. The first beer, despite what many think, isn't the best IMO.

My beer of choice for the past few years would have to be the German beer Holsten Festbock since it's cheap while still being far better than average. I'm not saying that it's the best beer out there, but it's one of the best cheap beers out there. It's definitely a huge bang for your buck. The only somewhat negative thing about it is how it isn't uncommon to overindulge yourself when drinking it since it goes down very easily. It comes in 500 ml cans and contains 7% alcohol so just three cans of the stuff is enough to make you quite tipsy.

Just don't bother with the original Holsten beer (Holsten Premium); it's nothing special. The Festbock is vastly superior.

Anyway . . . If I ever go to your country, Geordie, we should guzzle beer together. :D

Ooh, I love beer, but I don't guzzle it. I like microbrews. Shiner (from Texas), India Pale Ale, Leinenkugel's (a Wisconsin brewery). Here in Michigan we have a specialty beer called Oberon from Bell's which is only available in the summer. It's one of my favorites. Tried Fosters, wasn't impressed, and the major breweries' beer just tastes like water. As you can probably tell, I tend to like strong beers, but not fruity beers. I don't think I'd like blueberry beer, but I do like blueberry wine.

Don't really like Chang, but then again I don't like pale lager. Of the Asian beers, I don't mind Tsing Tao though, even though it is a pale lager [IIRC] and I generally don't drink those. One Asian beer I like is Sapporo Yebisu Black Beer - that's a schwarzbier.

I like Delirium Tremens as well, although when I first drunk it, I poured it out of the bottle and didn't realise there were supposed to be little specks in the liquid, so I spent quite a while going WTF? Once I realised it was normal, I was fine.

Some of the beer I like include...

+ Hoegaarden;
+ James Squire Amber Ale;
+ James Squire Porter;
+ Young's Double Chocolate Stout.

The only beer I like is Root Beer ;)

I tried Budweiser once and absolutely hate it. Don't like the taste at all... yuck. So yeah, not a fan of beer.

Another nice one I like, but completely forgot about until now. Not sure if they sell it over here, but in the US they do.

Budweiser is an unfortunate choice to have tried. It is pretty rancid. Budweiser sponsored a local music festival here a few years back and all the bands got Budweiser for free. So my friend, whose band was playing, had some free. It was pretty horrible ****.

You should try a good beer. You might like a weissbier because they're relatively mild.

You live in Ireland, and the only beer you try is horrible American beer? ;)
