Can you be alcohol-intolerant?

I have bounced American beer every time I have tried it. German beer stays down, but I still don't enjoy it.
I can tolerate harder liquor if I have something on my stomach, but I am still very conservative with it.

I don't drink anymore and haven't for years (what a nauseating, terrible time in my life that chapter was) but you can have a bad reaction to certain kinds of alcoholic drinks. I never handled wine too well either. It was always down a bunch of shots and follow with plenty of light beer for me. Now the only thing I can think of when I see wine is hangovers, wine hangovers are the worst kind you'll ever have.

I have never seen my wife drunk, she cannot drink enough to get into this state, without getting really sick.

ITs the aldehydes, and ketones in the wine that cause the hangovers.
