I think that yes, like all other people, people with asds must be asked to change their ways. The issues that we deal with in social situations are actually quite familiar to a lot of people, so it's a matter of finding some compassion for things that they deal with that we may not necessarily have to! A lot of people have serious problems and no life is trouble free. Keep in mind too that like us the neurotypical some times lacks self awareness and will react without realizing how they hurt you! I have to remind myself of these things constantly as I go through life and actual changes are usually small and slow, but that's what we all must do (where age is capable of breeding wisdom I cant imagine how else it might be done).
