Cooking shows, anyone?

The foods we eat advertised as being, for example, Indian or Chinese sometimes wouldn't be recognised by people from those countries. They are Westernised versions of the dishes.
This is very true. Since my main special interest is cooking (I am quite good) I try to find traditional recipes or variations of dishes for a lot of countries. Asian/Indian are some of my favorite styles to cook, though I'll dabble in anything. Most Americans don't know what "twice cooked pork" is even twice cooked for :) (it is the pork belly, it has to be braised whole to set the fat before slicing and tossing in the wok - the diluted version is just the sauce, the pork is cooked once). This is not to say I don't cook Americanized versions - they can be delicious too.

Answered this quickly in bed yesterday, so now with a keyboard...

I'm not a big fan of Gordon Ramsey. I like him fine when he's not punching food and screaming at people, but that's almost never.
.
I sometimes like Guy Fieri (I jokingly call him Guy Spaghetti) but it depends on my mood. He can be a bit ... flamboyant for me at times. Let us back into the Flavortown depot backwards on the train?
.
I really like Alton Brown - except for Cutthroat Kitchen. Nice concept, but a lot of meanness in that show. I like all of the incarnations of Iron Chef, particularly where he's in it.
.
I like Bobby Flay, but I'm so tired of people fawning over his looks. I'm a cis-male, but still know what is attractive. I don't get it. His face is so angular. Anyway, I enjoy his cooking style and personality.
.
As for pure instructional shows, I don't really have any "favorites" though I have some I like more or less than others. If it is something I might cook, or be interested in .. I like it. If it is pastries and deserts? I'll pass. I'm a savory chef. (I hope I can say "chef" without any training - I can cook anything with anything).
