Dark mode

I don't really have this problem. My phone's default browser has a dark mode that works pretty much on every site I go to, including here.

It seems that so many people on these autism sites use dark mode because a white-dominated screen hurts their eyes. At first I thought it was because they're in incognito mode or something lol.

But for me, dark mode wouldn't be comfortable, because of the white text on a black screen just makes me dizzy. I much prefer a white screen, set on 100% brightness. But I don't think I have sensory issues with sight.

Ouch! Instant unpleasantness for me.

Makes me feel like this:

I'm a dark mode person with constant night shift mode, too. To each their own, though. That's why computers are cool - customizable in every way.

I often change the colour of the keyboard on my phone. Right now it's blue. I want yellow but that doesn't seem to be in the keyboard colour options. Yellow is my favourite colour because it's so bright. :D

I don't like white text on dark ground either, I find it uncomfortable. I use the bright mode. Some light-gray version would be best-suited for me, I think.

I can't stand either 100% bright white or the dark mode in black.

I use a browser extension called 'dark reader', but it has an option to put things in grey (in between) and it is very muted compared to either of the other two modes.

I also have my brightness turned down to almost 0 on my laptop screen, and have it low on my phone as well, when indoors.

Using the "Dark Reader" web browser extension you can go into the settings and adjust both the brightness and contrast to your liking. You don't have to deal with absolute white (#FFFFFF) any more than absolute black (#000000).

Black and white doesn't work for me either. However different shades of greys make all the difference in the world.

Both my phone and laptop are on 100% brightness. I just can't bear a dim screen. I get eye strain from trying to read stuff with dim light. Sometimes when I go to people's houses after it's got dark and they have dimly-lit lamps on, and I can't bear it. I feel like my pupils are stretching wide and I start getting a headache. If I had my way I'd put all lamps on AND the main light - on full brightness.

Firefox browser has dark mode extensions that can display any website in dark mode. There is an option to override the default display for specific websites. I use the "Dark Reader" extension.

The mobile Firefox app has a built in dark mode setting.
