Did anyone’s therapist or psych say this

Happens way too often. Please fight for yourself. I can't protect you from where I am.

By the way. ADHD is basically ASD.

They tried to crappily diagnose me on deployment at a Air Force Base for ADHD. Which I showed them they are completely wrong. That's not my problem.

They never brought up ASD at all. I had to figure that part out myself. Useless. And it got me a punitive flag.

I firmly disagree with that, having two brothers (or, more importantly, knowing them) with ADHD but otherwise good social skills I can't agree that it's basically ADHD. I've got my own breed of special to put up with, and trust me...it's a different animal compared to what they have to deal with :)

While I don't have that label under my belt - mine was a textbook case of ASD from early childhood - and while the two can go hand in hand, you'll be able to notice clear and subtle differences between those with ASD (plus whatever else) and ADHD alone. You say you're into psychology, right? Pay attention to the small stuff and you'll see it...

Your missing the point. He read the stuff and he brought up What related and the therapist automatically started spouting some other crap instead of working with him to rule it out as a possibility. There is no doctor or psychologist that 100% knows the right answer. I can tell you though, usually the best one at finding the problem is the patient.

Before I was assessed for ASD, my psychologist explained to me that she saw some traits of
1) Aspergers, 2) avoidant personality disorder, and 3) obsessive compulsive personality disorder.
She explained to me that she was going to assess me for ASD first, as being on the spectrum would full explain the traits of said personality disorders she saw, rendering further assessment obsolete.

Had I not been diagnosed with ASD, more assessments would have followed into personality disorders and other likely causes for my problems. It was basically a decision event tree. I think that might be what your therapist is on about as well.

So I brought my research on ASD and detailed childhood behaviors to the attention of my therapist this week. She wrote down a lot of what I said to her about my childhood. I of course told her that all of the information was witnessed by my mother, who would be willing to come meet if necessary.

She did agree about all of the things I mentioned being signs and/or symptoms of ASD, but also added that a lot of those signs and symptoms could be from other disorders as well. These include OCD(obsessive compulsive disorder) BPD(borderline personality disorder) RAD(reactive attachment disorder) and others she said.
Has any therapist or psychiatrist brought up any of these to any late diagnosed or undiagnosed member of this site?

I have researched BPD and RAD and do not believe they are valid towards myself at all. RAD is a very rare disorder to begin with and I was NEVER neglected or abandoned as a child. Well my father wasn’t around from ages 3-10 but my mother made up for that, and BPD makes no sense to me because it is common to result from an addiction to drugs or alcohol and I don’t do either and have never even smoked cigarettes. Just weed when I was a teenager, but the signs started at age 2!

Just looking to see if anyone else had these disorders brought up or if someone does have one of these(please give some insight if possible)
Do you go to your therapist for anything else apart from diagnosis ?
In the UK from what I've read on these forums the system seems to be if you're going to be diagnosed that's all they do !if it's for therapy that isn't diagnosis that's done separately .
But I know in other parts of the UK diagnosis doesn't necessarily just happen in one session and that's also true for other parts of the world .
I think the way I was diagnosed is unusual

Yeah I see my therapist regularly because of my communication issues with my wife and my ADHD

The only reason I would like an actual diagnosis is(actually 2 reasons)because I would like the relief knowing that I know why I was the way I was my entire life, and because everyone thinks I’m lying or being lazy about changing the way I am. I tell everyone that I try to change things, but I can’t. I can’t change the way I respond or the way I do things or how I act sometimes, but everyone and I mean everyone, says “you are perfectly capable if you TRY hard enough, act like a 29 year old!”

One person has said it to me , if you're not sitting on the ground rocking and are non- verbal Or make spontaneous high-pitched noises you are not autistic to most people and you probably have to be a boy

On my most recent diagnosis I was also diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), but in my opinion this is an autistic trait and not a separate thing altogether, although I was told it was mentioned since it was one of my more prominent traits. I will also state that my more recent diagnosis was false since I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome (AS) even though I was very slow to develop as a child, especially with speech, something that is not classed as AS, but instead High Functioning Autism (HFA) so who knows what else they could have got wrong on my medical records now. My childhood obviously wasn't taken into account since it was all put on paper records which were for some reason not transferred over to computer when the system went computerised, this included my 1970s diagnosis of autism as a young child along with both my brothers from Professor Michael Rutter (now Sir Professor Michael Rutter since he was later knighted for his work with autistic children) along with other analysis of my condition that detailed my slow development from him and others, he was and arguably still is the highest expert in the field in the UK so I don't think they should be disagreeing with the likes of him. It really does annoy me that my medical records are now completely false and I worry that it could wrongfully adversely effect me in future since they don't seem willing to look out my paper records (or worse they've lost them), hence the much more recent diagnosis (which was done without my knowledge or consent a couple of year ago, a social worker visited who wrongfully thinks autism is a mental health condition along with others and they didn't even tell me I was being re-diagnosed, this is another reason why I fell out with her).

I think part of the reason is the government are trying to not pay people who are high functioning on the autism spectrum, that's why they are trying to reclassify you as very high functioning.
And you can probably guarantee the other parts are related to the fact that they want to get rid of people like us

Sounds you are struggling. Don't make any rash moves. Act with a cool head. Speak few words, and listen. Eventually those wasted words on you will run out. Be like water.

I really enjoy your positivity! Everything you say to me is always reassuring! Thank you!!! I don’t feel that way often
