Dinner time

What time do you eat dinner? Am I the only one who likes to eat early? I like to eat around 2-3 pm. My parents like to eat at 5pm and I hate it. I can’t wait that long to eat. Then, my mom is like have a snack. I’ve already had snacks today and if I continue to eat snacks then, I’m going to be full and not eat dinner.

Now that I think about it, I think I’m hungry because aunt flow is visiting. I want to eat everything in the house lol.

It varies a little, usually between 4 and 6 pm. Because that's often when I'm done and the day is over. But on saturdays and sundays I might eat dinner as early as 1-2 pm.

I try to start dinner preparations around 5 pm, but I guess it depends on your schedule trough the day - most of the full-time jobs I have had was 9-17 jobs, so would be hard to start earlier, especially if you add the commute time.... I can't work full time anymore, so now I work more like 9-13. My JJ gets up around 4 am to eat breakfast, and eat dinner around 4 pm, leaving the kitchen free for me and the kid for 5 pm dinner preparations.

Don't you get hungry later in the day then? or maybe it's a question of what dinner means? - is it the last meal, or the main meal?

I do tend to eat at 5:00 at the earliest. The latest I’ll start dinner is at 7:00, because if I start later than that there won’t be much time left in the evening for anything else.

No, dinner is just the main meal. The biggest meal. So there's more food after dinner. We also have a meal here called "kveldsmat", (evening-food). I think you Danes call it "aftensmad"? :)

In the old days, lunch was called “dinner,” and dinner was called “supper.” (People still do say supper, of course.)

Ahh.. I see, then it can either be in the middle of the day or in the afternoon/evening - usually I eat the main meal after 5 pm, but like in a Sunday it might be more like 3 or 4 pm. - And yes, we call it "aftensmad", but we also have the "natmad" which is more like the after 10pm food that you get as the "go away" food at parties or what you take from the refrigerator while the rest of the home is sleeping :)

Oh that's right, I forgot about "natmad". We call it "nattmat" here. (night-food). So it's dinner, evening-food, night-food. I'm getting hungry talking about all this food. It's almost half past midnight here now so this is a perfect time for some natmad. :D

Dinner? Usually anywhere between 5:30 and 6:30pm. On occasion if and when I had no lunch, then I might have dinner anywhere between 4:00 and 5:00pm. Breakfast? An interesting concept....

Sounds like we have a lot of meals here in the Nordic's :)

We eat dinner (the night meal) anywhere from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, but usually at about 7:00. I get really grumpy and mean if dinner is later than that.
