Do you dream about your obsessions?

Do any of your special interests appear in your dreams or do they have characters in them that relate to your special interests?
I dream about my obsessions quite a lot, every few nights or so. One of my favourites was a dream I had not log ago that featured 3 of my main obsessions (apes, evolution and religion.) Richard Dawkins made friends with a televangelist after debating with him on telly about religion vs evolution and they went to some island together to look at gorillas.
I usually do it if I'm not having nightmares. But even my nightmares now relate to an obsession of mine- zombies and the undead.

But my good dreams usually entail appearances from and time spent between me and my favorite characters from things I like a lot. Like one time I had this dream that the Beetlejuice cartoon series was getting a reboot with a new feature length animated film premiering in theaters and when I went to the premier, Cartoon Beetlejuice and Lydia were actually there and they were super happy to hang out with me during and after the movie.

I can dream about whatever I'm thinking of while starting to sleep.
I have that too!! Oh my god! Last September I kept thinking about The Conjuring and my Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls before I fell asleep and then I had this scary dream where MY Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls suddenly turned demonic on me...

I dream about my obsessions every once in awhile. Most of the time the dreams are about the 2005 version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Sometimes the Mad Hatter from the 2010 Alice in Wonderland movie shows up, but he usually looks or otherwise seems different than he does in the movie. For example, a few days ago I dreamed that he was at my house for a party (tea party?). I knew it was him, but he was a brunette instead of a redhead. A few days before that, I dreamed that I saw him doing the Futterwacken (his special dance in the movie), but for some reason it didn't 'feel' like him; I thought it was my brother in a costume instead.

One time I had a dream about Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd. She was in love with K'nuckles from the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack (which isn't an obsession of mine. I haven't even watched it for about a year or two). They purchased a ship together and went sailing around in a town that was completely flooded with water and fought pirates on another ship. I've always thought that dream would make a good fanfiction, but I've been too lazy to write it. :p
You must be a fellow Burton fan... :P Hi!

Those dreams sound amazing!! I always thought Mrs. Lovett could make a good female pirate. :)

I dream about math sometimes, like I work out problems in my dreams. If I spend enough of my waking hours focused upon something, it most surely will make itself known in my dreams.

I can, when the obsession has me in its absolute grip.

I was completely focused with ebola to the extent that I could talk and talk and talk about it and felt frustrated that when I tried, I was blown off and it felt like a personal insult to me! Perhaps that is why I dreamed of it!

But generally, I can now recognize when I am in danger and so, deliberately shift my focus and that sort of takes me out of the trance!

I dream about my obsessions (music and research) a lot. I commonly have a song going through my head for entire nights of sleep, and when I've been working a lot on a paper, I'll commonly dream about all of things I might do to analyze the data.

Although I wouldn't say I am obsessed, I dream
fairly often that I am reading a thread or about
to make a post here, or have just gotten an alert
about a new conversation.

Yesterday I dreamed the phone rang. That woke
me up. Phone wasn't ringing.

So the commonality seems to be communication/
using words. I am interested in that.

I had a dream recently that I ended up turning into a story. It doesn't seem to be remarkable one way or the other. No one has commented on it. I never took it seriously anyway.

I actually had like two or three dreams where my current obsessions invaded and current events collided into one last night alone.

The one I remember most clearly was me getting on here to check if anyone had replied to my Introduction Thread and for some reason this site had emojis from my favorite anime Aikatsu. It was such a mundane little dream, but it was a perfect blend of what was on my mind as I went to bed and my biggest obsession of the last three years.

I also once had a dream about Aikatsu-- which to give you a rundown is a Japanese animated about several young girls, it shows their friendships, daily lives, and struggles as they do their idol activities (singing, dancing, modeling, acting, etc. etc.)-- where my favorite characters had to save the world from evil Space Idols whose singing had the power to destroy the world. I think there might have been some flying alpacas and some buff gay men thrown in the mix too. Anyway my girls defeated the Space Idols by throwing a Special Live and uniting their hearts and the hearts of their fans and saved the world.

Sometimes I will dream about characters from books or movies I have seen recently or my best friends or other things I am just so SUPER into. But then sometimes I am just dreaming that I am sleeping or sitting somewhere in my underwear browsing the internet, which is technically also one of my obsessions.

So. Yeah. ALL the time.

All the dreams I have that aren't mundane (very rare) or bad (sadly common) are dreams about my special interests and they are wonderful. Usually they are either about the stories and characters I write, whatever Sci-fi Tv series I am currently devouring, video games, usually in live action, or crossovers of any of the three.

I've had several dreams about my current main fixation, Ben from the movie"Le Temps Du Loup" AKA Time Of The Wolf. However in my dreams he stays true to his on screen character and he doesn't speak. He seems to possess an uncanny ability to express his thoughts wordlessly, while retaining an almost emotionless expression.
