Does anyone else have a tendency to spend an hour on fifteen minutes worth of dishes due to water surface tension experiments, experiments comparing the rate at which various dishes sink, and experiments comparing how fast a particular item sinks in the sink when placed on the water at various angles? Is this relatable or do I just have a problem or something?🫤

Nope. I've been doing things like that since very early childhood.
That sounds fun. I used to play like that in the bathtub!

My last kitchen experiment a few months ago was annealing brass tube in the flame of the stove, making a loop with it and sticking the ends in a cup of water, and burning a candle under it like one of those toy boats.

Honestly. If I were not living with my Uncle. I would do this. I could be entranced for hours, if I really wanted to.

Heck. I sometimes take a longer time than nessissary to dry a glass pot lid, because I am trying to dry it perfectly. It's a futile effort, of course. But it sure as heck doesn't stop me from doing it anyway.

I'm (oh, not again) ... whitebelt Karateka. In Karate there's Neko Dachi, and it has a striking similiarity to Bellydance from Arabia. I'm Arab and Karateka.

I'm saying Boys do Karate and girls do Bellydance. This discovery happened around age 35. @tree and i talked about this. She said Dance do enhance Karate skills, but not really. Spesifically Karate as i know it.

I'm Heavy 😎👊 and cute ❤️😁

Edit: This reminds me of Kung-Fu of Dishwashing. That's a thing. Practise.

I love cooking, so my partner agrees to do the dishes, which suits me just fine!,
My house partner does the dishes, but the way he does them isn't fine with me.
I'm grateful for the help, but I'm that perfectionist type too.
When I do them, I see every little spot that he would not, take time to make sure the water is hot enough, the soap is just right, and when drying them going for the chasing that impossible perfection like @Xinyta said.

Really, we are like the Odd Couple with everything.
I've often told him I'm like Felix and he's an Oscar.

This is why If I was looking for a lab tech, no formal training you would top my list.

This is so relatable, I have it the same way with my spouse, I really do not understand how they can not see the spots, I appreciate the work an effort, but I also know I have to check every plate and glass I take from the cupboard before I use it...

You demonstrate one of the skills I think is most valuable - finding interest in everything.

Curiosity can change the most mundane tasks and even the greatest hardships into an intriguing quest for understanding and gaining knowledge. I think this trait makes life so enjoyable.

I actually LIKE doing the dishes.

It's easy, and at the end I feel like I have accomplished something worthwhile.

The general principle is that I tend to convert any project that might be simple into something much more complex. Around half the time, this produces results of very high quality. It's a good thing I'm not trying to sell stuff, because I'd go broke.

This question seems to imply the possibility that there are people out there who don't do this. What a horrible thought. Life is for learning.

I confess. Sometimes I leave bowls floating in the sink just because bowls floating in the sink seem funny to me.

I found out before I meet my wife I could not do dishes, back aches due to side effects of my transverse myelitis, so after we got married I got us a dish washer.
