This poll is all about legal liquid amphetamine content, such as Red Bull, Rockstar and Monster.

I needed one today to keep myself awake since I had some messed up dreams in my sleep last night and falling back asleep was pretty impossible after that.

Do you enjoy energy drinks? Do you drink them just because they are trendy and you want to feel like you are 15 again? Do you mix them with vodka? Or do you hate them all the way around?

They help me out when I have poor sleep the night before, but the crash when I get home from the work shift afterwards is pretty killer.

I drink energy drinks sometimes. If I drink anything like that though I usually drink just Mountain Dew (which honestly is probably worse for me lol). The rest of the time I drink plain coffee.

I had a Red Bull years ago and found it heinous. I've tried a few other energy drinks and got a sick feeling from them. The sick feeling wasn't from caffeine since I consume a regulated amount of caffeine daily, but it was from the other crap they put in the energy drinks I had.

Just Mountain Dew for me.

Though I primarily drink it for the taste, I dont particularly care about the caffeine or sugar.

The problem though is that there's no way to avoid caffeine addiction. If I try to go a day WITHOUT any, a monstrous headache soon follows, which is... awful.

I have never had an energy drink, and did not realize they contain amphetamine. Interesting. I was under the impression that they simply consisted of caffeine, the amino acid Taurine and sugar.

On occasion, I will drink matcha tea, and on rarer occasion, coffee. I like coffee and the dopaminergic effects it possesses, however, since coffee contains Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, and Choline, when not broken down, causes me to experience a lot of anxiety, I stay away from coffee, for the most part. Interestingly, I had thought the problem resulted from caffeine, but nope.

I had a couple of red bulls once, it tasted good but it makes me thirsty. So that doesn't work for me.

Years ago someone gave me some caffeine pills. I swallowed a few and didn't think much of it, it was just caffeine. Huge mistake. 48 hours later I was still a mess. :fearscream: Never did that again.

Those things taste like a chemical soup to me.
I know! They're grrrrrreat aren't they!?

But seriously, I used to down energy drinks like no one's business. When you are flying high and full of energy as I was at the time, there's nothing quite like a huge can of monster energy drink to enhance the buzz.

Oddly enough, they are a good way of getting your essential B Vitamins. These ironically are good to help you sleep!

There's actually a video on YouTube by a doctor titled something like "How I Cured My Insomnia With Energy Drinks".

So if you struggle to sleep and need energy drinks, but you are concerned about the stuff they have in them, it's worth trying a soluble B Vitamin Complex in water instead.

Or you could be like me and Stewie Griffin and just put it in your body and ask questions later! :smilecat:

Guilty. Sometimes l can't run on treadmill unless l fill up on anything with caffeine then l take to the cardio like a bat out of hell. Once running, l can carry thru and stay motivated. It's a jump start.

I prefer coffee though. With frothy foam too. But matcha tea is a very nice backup choice.

With the added benefits of some delicious caffeine you can get your workout done in half the time! :)

Coffee or tea and sometimes soda for a caffeine boost. Nothing else.

Never had one of those commercial "energy drinks" and never wanted one.

Heck no o_O

I won't touch them, too much of an unknown and I really do think they are a false energy hit

Back when Red Bull first came out (that was years ago), I had one as a free sample, never touched one again since

I do consume caffeine via coffee, which is far more natural

I like black coffee but for some reason I find it relaxing. Tea is also nice but I'll drink herbal tea too which isn't usually going to wind you up that way.
The energy drinks really do taste like you could develop a photographic dry-plate in them but at the same time, they will keep you awake, and can spell the difference between being able to get stuff done on time & not. They are like "neurotypical juice" and can cause a lot more focus, function, & alertness. They also cost way more than I want to spend.

People never believe me, but I used to end the evening with a nice cup of coffee before getting into bed and sleeping like a log.

I don't tend to have energy drinks anymore. I also don't drink as much coffee. I quit it completely for a while as I thought it was making me anxious but actually it seems to have the opposite effect. So who knew?

I have to be a little careful as I have a heart condition and being over caffeinated is probably not wise. But it's a balance as too little and the anxiety increases which puts strain on my heart. It kinda catch 22.

I only ever tasted one energy drink, Mother. It was disgusting and I couldn't finish it.

When working long shifts someone got me to try NoDoze, I'll never do that again. It made me feel like I was coming down off of speed, awake but tired and lifeless. When I'm seeking energy I go for what I know to be energy - sugar. That was my secret to keeping active through an 18 hour shift, a packet of Minties.

Sugar is the best source of energy in my opinion, as long as you don't over do it. That was partly my secret for getting through 12 hour shifts at the factory. Everyone would fill up on a big meal at lunch and crash an hour after lunch. I would just eat a little and never eat before a Nightshift. It's a question of ticking over in terms of your metabolism.

At this exact moment in time I've been up for 28 hours straight. I'm in too much pain to sleep. I just had a cup of sweet tea and I feel half human now. Just a shame I don't tend to burn off the calories like I used to. So not quite the best remedy right now, but I'll take it! :-)

Prefer coffee or tea. I avoid sugary drinks, though I understand you can get ones without sugar. Red Bull is supposed to be good against migraine, but I haven't tried it personally.
