I definitely fit in to the Ambivert category. In general I'm a loner and prefer my own company but I have no social anxiety and when I do go out talking to people I generally enjoy myself. I have a healthy ego and no one that meets me in person would ever think of me as being shy. Quiet and thoughtful, yes, shy, definitely not.

I'm going to a project launch event this evening and I'm looking forward to meeting people in person for the first time, up until now it's only been video meetings through Microsoft Teams. When they announced that there's a free dinner for us afterwards I got a little excited, and then I saw the menu and changed my mind pretty quick.

One of those expensive places that gives themselves far too many airs and graces, the only beef on the menu is that horrible fatty Wagu rubbish and they charge $55 for a hamburger and chips. I don't care if someone else is paying, I refuse to support those types of places on principal, just around the corner I can get a really nice porterhouse steak with chips and vegies and a beer for $25. Also those sorts of pretentious places always attract the pretentious sorts of people with plastic smiles and fake egos that tend to rub me the wrong way, when it comes to socialising I'd rather sit in the gutter with the homeless people.

Who? (If it's not inappropriate to ask.)
TMI. She left some time ago.

Besides, I'm guessing you and her would not have had a lot in common other than being more outgoing than so many of us. Though within the autistic community I do find more outgoing Aspies to be fascinating on some levels.

It never fails to amaze me in my own experiences being social online versus offline.

Offline in person, I might just come across as a potted plant in a group situation. :(

My father used to tell me that I was far too honest for my own good, but part of that is just the autistic tendency to say what I think is right before thinking if it's right to say it. I upset a few people from time to time but that's too bad, quite a few people upset me too. There must be balance in all things. :)

I've always been a good advocate.

Ambivert. I like people and I like being alone. I can easily flow from being gregarious with people to staying home alone, perfectly happy with my own solitude.

Balance indeed. And the world needs some blunt, yet honest people. An asset IMO, whether or not everyone agrees.

Interesting. I think I’d probably classify as an ambivert. I like being with people, and I also like being alone. I’m just not so good at speaking. I’m not good at starting conversations. If someone else starts a conversation, I can usually join in. So I’m not good at approaching strangers. Public speaking would probably be a no go for me (unless maybe it was a speech that I’d read from).

By nature definately an introvert. With masking skills and experience I can mimic extroversion but only do so when I have to, not by choice.

I want to invent a new Vert. Blabbovert. Not an extrovert in the socially aware sense. Just will not stop talking. Ever.

;)

Some of us might have to reassess our poll answers if you get that new category approved and added to it. 🤔 We might stop talking when hyperfocused on some research or something though so maybe take that final " ever" off of the description. 🤣

I'm a talky talker these days. Until I go non verbal. I used to be very non verbal, but, I learnt to sing and dance and that helped. As did drama class in school.
