Finding impetus.

What a glorious day!

I went to bed at about 9:30 last night and slept right through to 6:30 this morning. I was woken up by an incoming email and I was grumpy about being woken up at first, then I realised that I was fully rested and decided I didn't mind.

While I was having my morning coffee and cones I decided to do some washing. Now it's only lunch time but two loads of washing have been done, dried in the sun, folded up properly so that I don't have to do any ironing, and put away.

I'm sitting down for a rest now but I still feel full of energy, I might tackle a few other little jobs this afternoon.

The weather is perfect, couldn't ask for better, 30 degrees during the day and down to 15 overnight and not a cloud in the sky. Adelaide gets thees days a lot. And later in the week we get the first taste of summer we've had in 3 years, 40 and 41 expected on Thursday and Friday. Normally we get a few days every year over 40 but that hasn't happened for a few years now.

Still having a magical day, I have no idea why.

I decided to check my mail, that's around the corner in the next street. The sunshine felt so wonderful on my skin, the ground under my feet was pleasantly warm. It was so nice I just stood near my letter box for a while and soaked it up.

My kitchen is clean and tidy, my bedroom's still a mess but at least there isn't a dirty great pile of dirty laundry on one side of the bed any more. I retrimmed my hair because there were a couple of shaggy bits at the back of my head that I missed the first time around, that always happens.

Then I went for a ride on my bike and bought more beer. I'm so glad I bought that bike, as beautiful as the weather is outside it would have been a bit too warm on the ride back on a normal bike. But I hardly pedal at all, I just let the motor do the work.

And I was going to buy take away food while I was out but I talked myself out of that and I'm cooking instead. Tuna Mornay. The cheat's method though, I can cook it properly but this is better:

I use a packet of Continental Al Fredo Pasta and Sauce. I mostly follow the directions but I use real full cream milk and real butter from a moo cow because I believe they are healthier and because yes, I can taste the difference.

I use the butter to fry some onions first, then chuck the rest of the ingredients in as per the instructions on the packet. While that's cooking I drain the brine off of a tin of tuna and a tin of mixed vegetables. Both of these are already cooked, when the pasta and sauce is finished cooking I tip both tins in to the pot, stir it around a bit until it's all heated through properly, then eat.

And I'm single, so I just eat it straight out of the pot, no need to dirty any dishes. :)

I do this, too - if I make just one portion. I try to do everything in the most efficient and evergy-saving way I can. Which means cooking large quantities to last 5-6 days, the either freezing the left-overs, or keeping them in the fridge and just heating up when needed.

Something weird is going on with me. Good, but weird.

Last night I ran out of steam when I ate and went to bed soon afterwards. Only slept for 2 hours then played video games and cruised the net til 5:30 in the morning. Once again I only slept for 2 hours and woke up still with plenty of energy.

So I went and did my grocery shopping and I bought myself a nice camera bag while I was at it. Now I'm kicking back and enjoying a beer, still not tired.

I hope it lasts a while. :)

And it looks like I'm buying a car. Maybe that's what's turned me around and cheered me up so much, the decision to buy a car. I've been without for a few years now.

The car is a little yellow Honda Jazz, 2010 model. Only $5500. If I get 7 years out of that before petrol gets banned then it equates to good value.

the Aussie version:

On the dole again,
Just can't wait to get back on that dole again.
Suck some piss and play some 8 ball with my friends...

I’ve been sleeping regular hours a lot more often lately, and I’m enjoying it. I seem to be in a bit of a philosophical mood today, just thinking about how fortunate I am.

This morning I woke up at 5:30 in the morning, standard coffees and cones routine, then sat down and played a war game for a few hours. It’s forecast to get to 41 degrees today but I’m kicking back in the airconditioning downing a few beers, having a few more cones, and wondering how I might amuse myself for the rest of the day.

I live in a very nice little unit in a nice neighbourhood. The government pays my rent and guarantees me a home for the rest of my life, and they give me $400 a week play money. I don’t have to work, I can do whatever I want whenever I want. I’m one of the few people in the world that is truly free.

I read a lot of stories in the news about how inadequate our welfare system is and it makes me wonder instead about how inadequate some people must be to not be able to make life work with what we have on offer.

I think this thread is turning in to a bit of a personal blog, but posting on my profile page means a 420 character limit on posts, I struggle just to say hello in 420 characters sometimes.

I just got an unlooked for birthday present. I tried to sign up with a cannabis clinic about a month ago but they were having trouble getting information from my doctor's clinic. Today I got an email from them saying that they were still getting nowhere, I asked if it was alright if I just dropped that information in to them myself.

Problem solved, I now have an appointment on Wednesday. I've been smoking dope for more than 40 years, it will be nice to do so legally.

Quite a few really. I'd like to catch up on quite a few places I haven't seen in over 30 years, and to play with my camera.
Hi all. I just thought I'd give an update. I'm going on a photographic road trip next week, I leave on Wednesday. I hired a little campervan for a week.

In the last 2 months I've lost 15 kilos in weight and built up a bit more muscle so I'll be in good shape for climbing a few mountains and getting some good pictures. I'm really looking forward to that.

And much of my hair has grown back now, I have a full beard again. :)

I would love to see some landscape pictures, and curious about the campervan too.

May you enjoy your trip. :)

Thank you. The vehicle I hired is more like a large station wagon with a bed in the back, no toilet and shower, but I'm by myself so that's easy enough to live with. Being more like a car than a van means I can take it more places.

I'll end up travelling about 1500 Km, over to the Eyre Peninsula, up through the Flinders Ranges, and then back down through the Murray Riverlands. All places that I haven't seen for 30 years.
