Flu Shots?

That was my experience recently going to the doctor (last week) as well. My doctor didn't even ask me about the Covid vaccine or the flu shot. It was the first time I ever saw this doctor as I decided to change clinics recently.

That's not the case everywhere though. I thought medicine was immune to politics, but it's not. Politics has apparently started to infect medicine. I read this week that a doctor in Florida sent a letter to all of her patients saying she'll now refuse to treat anyone for any reason if they haven't taken a Covid vaccine. I find this very sad.

I've never heard, for example, of a doctor refusing to treat a murderer, even a mass murderer or refusing to treat other violent criminals. This doctor will apparently refuse to treat unvaccinated.
If this doctor is a family g.p. they have a right to protect their other patients.
My own G.P. took extra precautions when I had the flu years ago by restricting hours for flu visits and only using one room and a seperate office entrance.

We are at a house with Satellite.

Thanks for the answer, and that would make sense then because you have more TV I’d think since Satellite opens a lot more doors than an antenna and the internet. We got off cable over a year ago and don’t miss it one bit, saves a lot of money too but that isn’t why we initially did it. The lack of quality TV is why, we just don’t find anything funny or entertaining anymore. The reality shows never were a favorite and the so called “family shows” are not like any bodies families that we know.

I got invited for a flu jab just this week. In UK. I had one in February too.

Do you get sick when you get the flu shot? I’m asking because I do every time. I know all the data and how it works, but I still get sick each time. This year I decided not to get it, my husband never does and he never gets sick. Think I’ll take my chances, we aren’t around a lot of people either.

Influenza is not a coronavirus.

The common cold is a coronavirus, along with SARS-CoV, (from 2002) SARS-CoV-2, (that's COVID-19) and MERS-CoV. We've been beating on the common cold for as long as we've been working on vaccines and still haven't cracked it. It does not surprise me that COVID-19 is such a bear to defeat.

SARS-CoV spontaneously disappeared in 2004. It was deadly but not very easily spread. MERS-CoV migrated from camels to humans. Also deadly but not exceptionally infectious.

I got my flu shot yesterday. I know the incidence of influenza was unusually low last year because of covid precuations and I want it to stay extremely low this year too. We've known about the importance of masks, hand washing after touching common areas, and social distancing since the latter1800s.

You couldn't convince me not to get the flu shot. Getting sick doesn't mean you caught the flu. Influenza hits suddenly and can knock you out flat for a week. Tens of thousands of people die from it in a normal year.

I only received flu shots when I worked in a pharmacy that serviced institutional settings.
Nursing homes, children's special needs homes and jails.
It was required by the company.
They always made me feel so bad from the reactions that I quit taking them after I stopped working
at that company.

Haven't had a flu shot in over 30 years and only had the flu once. The test said it was a type that
wasn't even in the flu shot that year anyway.
I don't normally take vaccines, but, I know the Sars and Mers Covids are unpredictable and less
is known about how they affect you in the long run. They are called novel.
So I did take the vaccine for the Covid. It did not make me ill like the flu shots did.

The common cold can be caused by several different virus'. Rhinovirus is very common.
Common Corona virus is also a cause of the common cold.

Whatever happened to the flu shots? Since covid showed up it seems the flu and all flu deaths have disappeared? I have not seen an advertisement for the flu shot at any of the major medical centers and we are in a city of 2.5 million, it’s really weird?

Did covid make the flu go away? If so I guess It’s a good thing, nobody will die from the flu anymore!

Despite what some may think,...the reality is that masking, washing hands, and social distancing does have a significant impact on certain viruses within the community. Respiratory Syncytial Virus, many of the common "cold" and "flu" viruses pretty much disappeared during this last year when we were all in various stages of "lockdown" and isolation. At the children's hospital we had 1,...1 case of RSV last winter,...we usually have entire floors dedicated to it. The adult hospital, same experience with the flu,...almost non existent. Now that things are opening up again,...we are now full again,...with RSV and flu,...and CoVID-19. The flu didn't go away,...it is here,...and the flu shots will be available within the next few weeks, or so. As hospital workers, it is a requirement,...so we are doing our flu shot scheduling right now.

I really believe in "My Body, My Choice." in all situations. A patient has full medical right to the privacy and sanctity to chose medical treatment or to refuse it, regardless of outcome.

So here's my opinion on the covid shot:

My son had RSV and bronchiolitis couple months ago when he was around 5 months old. I remember the state health dept was saying it was unusually high cases for this time of year, in the UK as well. Was a pretty stressful week (the cough!!) but luckily didn't need to be hospitalized.

They will start the flu shot again and when they do beware of kids getting polio like symptoms and being admitted to emergency. They will blame it on something other than the vaccine/flu shots though.

What remains central to all such discussions is whether one supports or opposes much of any right of the individual that can potentially or inherently infringe upon the rights of others.

In such exposures, are there collectively "acceptable" casualty figures to support one's individual rights? Does a perception of "inalienable rights" automatically extend to the unintended deaths of others by a contagion?

Considerations society seems more prone to sweeping under a rug than to deal head-on with. Issues society continues to argue over, yet doesn't establish any meaningful benchmarks to validate one position or another.

Another case of "the cart being placed in front of the horse".

I get flu shots annually. Sometimes, I get a night of fever, but it is a small price to pay. Most of the time, I don't.
I believe I had such a fever with the shingles vaccine.
