Food Allergy Advice

Yeshuasdaughter

You know, that one lady we met that one time.
V.I.P Member
My daughter has developed a severe allergy to eggs over the past year.

I now buy vegan mayo, and we use powdered egg replacer for baked goods. But, she really misses out on eating eggs at breakfast, and gets bummed out when I eat them.

We can't do tofu, because she's allergic to soy.

Has anyone tried the vegan product called "Just Egg"? It's made from mung beans. What did you think of it?

Also, is there a good brand of eggless ranch dressing? I find that the ones I've tried are sort of vinegary and chemical-sweet. Is there a good dressing that tastes like Hidden Valley Ranch?

@Yeshuasdaughter ;
Thanks for starting this thread I’m anxious to see what all you get in advice and see you already got some good info! Was gonna mention how yummy Vegenaise is, but then saw it does have soy in it so it obviously wouldn’t work for you/her.

May I ask, can she have any meats? I cannot eat meat due to an allergic reaction from meat (even now fish) so to get the protein I use eggs and soy, so I’m wondering how do you get protein without eggs and soy? Only thing I could think of would be lots of juicing with spinach?

I like French dressing it's sunflower oil and vinegar, if you want trad french add Dijon mustard ,what I really like is passata ,but that's because I'm always dehydrated.

What you can try is mushrooms as protein, yeast has a huge! amount of energy, big thing in the UK and a slight difference in the Republic (soda bread no leaven)is fried bread, tomatoes and mushrooms.
More advice is avoid purines(salmon, eggs, cheese),they should really only be eaten by carnivores, the sulphur content has powerful consequences.

I found many fake egg recipes on youtube. Think somebody used a black salt spice that gave it egg taste. Black salt gives the sulphur taste, kinda of egg like. It was on Young Man cook- vegan egg ramen recipe on youtube.

I would be in trouble if that happened to me, because eggs have a lot of protein and for a mild diabetic, just one gives me a lot of energy throughout the day, almost, to be quite active.

The question to ask, is: why suddenly? Have you changed the mark of the eggs? Are they organic? It could be that what is put in the egg, to either produce more or keep longer, could be what is causing the allergy.

You want to get on vitamin C. This controls the effects of allergies and there is reason to believe, that a lack of vitamin C actually causes allergies.

We're carnivores... big time. I'm just trying to find something that is just like eggs, or as close as can be. But those mushrooms sound delish!
Forgot!, get her to eat more apples(don't peel the skin off it's in the skin) ,bell peppers ,cheese (Edam is the lowest fat, they have a chemical called quercetin ,which apparently reduces the histamine response to an allergen, you can buy quercetin as a supplement from whole food suppliers)

I don't know, but all of a sudden they make her so sick. Even foods that have egg in it, like mayo, baked goods, etc.
Does she vomit or is it diarrhoea?,I ask as i.b.s can initially can be induced by another chemical ,then something sulphurous will inflame the gi tract

Also if your insurance will cover it get her tested for cholesterol level , people with autistic neurology have a propensity to develop high cholesterol and it's better to be on a very low animal fat diet instead of being like me who is nauseous at the thought

I don't know of any egg substitutes other than the egg substitute stuff sold at grocery stores, but I like the idea of using mushrooms to make a dish that at least has the texture of eggs. Another possibility is to use beans such as kidney, black beans, chickpeas, or black eyed peas, etc. to make a kind of mash that can be spread on toast in the mornings. It's not eggs but it does kind of approximate the texture, and beans have a lot of protein. You can put cheese on top of the beans and melt it in the oven or under the broiler for a minute or two.

I'm allergic to peanuts, not life-threatening but my stomach doesn't like them. I recently read that people who are allergic to peanuts should not eat green beans because they are closely related to peanuts. I don't know if that is true - needs further research.

You can substitute plain yogurt instead of mayonnaise. If you put the yogurt in a sieve set over a bowl, the extra liquid can drip out of the yogurt so it is thicker, like mayo, and can be spread on sandwiches. You can also use avocados as a mayo substitute. Just mash them up and spread on bread or toast.

From what little I know about food allergies, it appears that anyone at any time can develop an allergy to specific foods. Allergies can also disappear as suddenly as they appear. No one knows why.

I really like you and I know you're just trying to be kind and helpful. But we're not going to become vegetarian and I don't want any vegetarian advice. I just wanted to find a good egg replacer.
It's not a vegetarian diet it's a low cholesterol diet if I'd talked about veganism I'd be explicit and you don't have to be aggressive

I think just egg is the closest you will find. I have never had it but many vegans like it and she will be able to have scrambled eggs. I agree with others here that black salt will help with egg flavour.

What is black salt?
Black salt, also known as Himalayan black salt, Indian black salt or kala namak, is a volcanic rock salt manufactured in the regions surrounding the Himalayas. It contains, in addition to sodium chloride (the key chemical compound of salt), traces of sulphur compounds naturally found in the Himalayan mountains.

This sulphur content is what gives the salt its unique pungent smell and tangy taste, reminiscent of rotten eggs.

Have nuts but don't have a lot of peanuts as a lot of processed food use peanut oil and too much nut is toxic have a variety of nuts try to source ones that grow in your state as they'll be much more closely aligned to your particular immune response .
Forgot beans, olive oil ,sunflower oil ,you will have to find a supplement for vegans if you're over 50 as you're no longer manufacturing the wonder hormone for pain oestrogen or making a lot!of iron.

I enjoy eggs, but fake eggs are doable. Think the recipe used yellow mung split beans and agar, little black salt cooked in pan and he put it in a egg mold for the yolk.

This youtuber has excellent healthy recipes: young man can cook and it's soothing to watch his videos. He is very precision orientated (virgo).

I'm not saying be vegetarian (it's actually worse than a flesh eaters diet as cheese is pure saturated fat)I'm saying have a low cholesterol diet, by starting in her teens she won't be gasping for breath like me with mild heart disease at 48

I believe that cholesterol and certain saturated fats are very, very good for you. They help build the myelin sheath that creates new pathways in the brain and it's really good for your endocrine system. It's the refined carbs and trans fats that are bad for you.

Every native culture on earth has a tradition of eating offal and fat or blubber. Organ meats, unrefined vegetable fats, and animal fats are so good for you.
