Give me a description of what’s happening in the photo.

Could be worse. My town worships an 18' tall stainless steel salmon. View attachment 134316

There is a town called Madison in Minnesota that also worships a fish. :D

Looks like me about 20 years ago. I always liked campfires, but for several decades didn't really live in a place where I could do it. So when I moved here where fires are allowed and there was tons of natural limbs and trees down I had fires almost weekly for a while. But eventually I had my fill and switched to making brush piles for little animals to live and not make more CO2. There can be something therapeutic about staring into a fire. I see nothing in the photo to suggest occult.

If you hear weird chanting, and they do it on full moon nites, and it's more than two people, you never know. There are underground types that practice weird ritual stuff. And the police maybe interested. Otherwise, it's idiots burning stuff to close to a wood fence. Some people get rid of crime evidence by burning it. Just stay safe. And Judge mention alert the fire Marshall if burning close to structures is illegal. It usually is. You can talk to the neighbors on the other side of that fence, and ask if they were aware of this.

That is so cool! I have a big bass in my town similar to the one @Forest Cat posted
Ours is called "Sammy the Salmon". Campbellton, my town, is on the Restigouche River which is world famous for Salmon fishing. Always private helicopters going up to camps in the summer. Presidents and holywood types. I appreciate that they pay good money to come visit something that I've grown up next to. I am lucky to live in an area so rich in natural beauty.

That fish was mentioned by the North Dakotans (Norwegian Descent) occasionally as a sort of cultural touchstone, but usually in a way that suggested it also tasted terrible. :D

Yeah it's a fish dish called lutefisk. And that fish in Madison is named Lou T. Fisk. It's dry cod soaked in lye. First dried and then rehydrated in lye. It has a very special taste and smell. The smell and taste is not modest, it demands attention. 😆 It's an acquired taste. We eat it for Christmas here, Christmas dinner.

Definitely occult!

Raising a Balrog is also highly illegal in most fire prone areas! Lucky this is a baby one! 😱😈

It sounds a little like something my Mum used to eat, but I doubt that using lye in foods would be legal here. She'd buy dried out smoked cod and braise it in milk. It was a treat she bought for herself because none of us kids would eat it. She also used to eat sheep's brains, and if you took her to the beach she'd spend hours walking along in the shallows bent over double and digging things out of the sand and eating them.

Please note that this a cod
There is a clue in the inscription of the statue - lutefisk

This is a Norwegian specialty and often had at Christmas. To make it you need dried cod, plenty of water and some lye (caustic soda). It tastes fine, although the translucence of the fish meat is a bit unusual.

Perhaps @Forest Cat might want to chip in on this topic.

In the country side where there are houses and not just apartments and they have trees on their property they gather them round tree branches and leaves, even in animal's fenced sites, they burn them daily for cleaning the yard. They watch it burn and then they extinguish it with water.
