Grumble over web form security measures

 I remember doing that in the early days of online life. When I had ten to twenty passwords. Now I have hundreds. :fearscream:

I still have maybe 20 passwords, as I'm not in a huge variety of things online. And I write them down on a paper stashed away somewhere. Pretty secure because I can't even find it half the time, let alone anyone else finding it. I use the forgot password links quite often.

Well, the box is always in the same place, so I can always find it. The Sharper Image has been selling an electronic password keeper, sort of like the old electronic calendar things that were popular in the 90s. According to them, it holds 500 passwords. I think they want $50.

For years I used the same password and changed the usernames slightly. I was able to remember the usernames most of the time. Now you can't do that, the hackers are too smart. So I bought a index card box at a thrift store for 50 cents and made dividers from the cheap cardboard used in some food boxes like snack bar boxes. It works for me.

My friend tried to sign up on here so she could gift me a membership and she got stuck in the captcha. No kidding she tried dozens of times. I even just got her to change computer and use mine but it still wouldn't let it through. Then the forum system told her it was worried she was spamming.
So I guess that won't be happening...
It makes me wonder how I managed to make an account for myself. I can't remember if I had trouble or not.

I'm lazy. I just write down the user names and passwords on small pieces of paper and tape them to the edges of my monitors. I like to invent passwords that I can actually remember - phrases like:

time&tideW84NoMan or T&Tw84No1
Dal8&$short
4cast4Sno*&Wind+2Da

I try to use words that I can spell with numbers and symbols. Suggestions welcome!

I too write the usernames and passwords on note paper, then I file them in the index card box. If I need a password I just look in the box. I have a laptop PC so I can't tape the paper to it, of course. :p
