Halloween remains just a pleasant childhood memory for me. When back in the 60s my brother and I used to stage "skits" and have all kinds of sound effects and props when kids came to our doorstep. It was lots of fun. Except perhaps the time my brother threw himself down a very long stairway just behind our foyer. Great drama, but he could have killed himself! Oops.

First Halloween decoration I’ve ever purchased in my life… It’s a wooden jack-o’-lantern made out of reclaimed wood that I bought from an old-fashioned bagel shop that I pass on my way to work. Loving it!

I made a Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs costume. I have a basket, lotion, a little toy dog, and a wig and bald cap to look like I’m wearing a scalp. I spent an entire year getting everything ready. I bought a cheap wig from Walmart because I figured I might need to alter the wig (which I did) and I wasn’t going to ruin a $20 wig from Spirit Halloween. I’m also using cheap makeup that I got from the Dollar Tree. I hope I win some sort of prize at the Halloween party I am attending.

Halloween isn’t celebrated much in my country, except for in some select expat communities. That is to say, kids don’t go trick or treating. Spooky Halloween dress up parties and spooky decorations are becoming increasingly popular though. I used to enjoy coming up with elaborate costumes and going to Halloween parties. These days I mostly just spend too much money on scented candles and lounge around the house just like any other day. But with spooky scented candles.

Kids do go door to door to collect candy here, but it’s on November 11th, they walk around the neighborhood with self made lanterns and they sing a song at each door in exchange for candy. It’s pretty cute.

This is off-topic, but does anyone know of a good Halloween gift? Something Halloween related to give to someone for Halloween.
