Hard or soft

I'm aware many Aspies have their favorite toys that they sleep with at night from some of the other forums I've worked, but I wonder what you all sleep with? Are your toys hard or soft?

I've always slept with hard toys which were metallic for the most part. Metallic powder coated toys are my favorites.

This is to let everyone here know that it annoys me when you start poking fun at something I've ask. 2 of my symptoms are as severe as they can get and I'm very serious about the question I ask. I would love to here from those who actually sleep with objects for comfort and security. I already know one member besides myself who sleep with hard objects. And I bet there are others on this forum who have their plushies, etc. they sleep with as well. So please, no " I don't think I could get my Sportster on the bed" unless you sleep in your Sportstar for comfort and security in which I also know some people who does, because they love their cars more than they love humans. And I also know there are a lot of non-Aspies who don't understand what goes on in the minds of someone the Spectrum too on this forum. That is why I hesitate at times posting anything of this nature on this forum.

I would have like to deleted this thread because after I started I knew where this was going.

object i sleep with is hard, door closers in fact, not just for security, but I'm the sensory type of aspie, and I find it a bit calming with the cold hard heavy cast iron device laying on or next to me and me touching the pebble texture of cast iron, I have found that putting them on middle of my chest helps with sleep the best (pressure point there).

if I don't sleep with them, I end up having bad dreams or not able to sleep at all.

Dirtdigger, if people annoy or make fun of you on here, you can ignore them, as not everyone here has the same symptoms and they may not understand how it is like to have more severe case of autism/aspergers.

could be worse, as once TLC network's "My Strange Addiction" has contacted me once (3 years ago) when they were finding Objectum Sexuals to interview, and well, they thought I was one of them, all until I told them that my sleeping habit is related to having autism/aspergers and it's a sensory thing, nothing sexual about sleeping WITH a door closer, neither is it a habit I should get help for kicking the habit for either (talk to a shrink or a doctor for)

only side effect I would get from sleeping with a closer, markings on me from the bolt-hole locations and if I move too much, they can fall to the floor or if it it was a really badly used one, risk of oil leaks.

we are just people with aspergers/autism, not side show freaks or need to be on a show that will make you look like an idiot.

ohh well, that's how media works these days, they hear the words "sleep with" and they instantly think OHHH a sexual one to do a clip about!! well, the producer of MSA got a screen full (on facebook) when she tried that technique with me.

I wasn't poking fun at you, so I apologize if it came across that way. My Harley is important to me and provides a degree of security. I've had people say to me, "Sheesh, why don't you just sleep with it." I check on it before I turn in each night.

I apologize as well :( I was only trying to be a bit humorous ... Yes I do sleep with my PSP and Ipod as a security means, especially when I'm down and depressed. There's a strange comfort doing that ...

My super large sock monkey sleeps with me (he's like an extra pillow actually). Can't sleep with Waldo because I'd probably end up rolling over on him and he'd end up biting me (and I don't mean a "love bite").

I don't sleep with my childhood toys because I wouldn't want to roll on top of them or haul them out of bed and accidentally "hurt" them. I know it sounds silly, but Everard and Ruggles are more than just a stuffed rabbit and a stuffed bear; to me they have feelings. I do keep them close by though, as I'd hate for anything to happen to them.

I do sometimes sleep with things for comfort when upset or anxious though.

I sleep with my wife. She's both soft and hard. She provides me with safety, warmth and comfort
You'rer funny!. You must be a Non Aspie who are into human relationships, obviously. I'm not wanting to hear from people who are into human relationships and your wife is not a toy.

Thank you for your post. You must also be an Animist like myself where I have given my toys a soul and a personality. I know there are a number of Aspies who have Animism.

No need to apologize. It was the Sportster post that kind of upset me. I appreciate everyone replying and most of them I really loved reading. I'm just trying to understand this aspect of Aspergers a little better since this particular disorder of Aspergers is so intense with me. Sorry for being so serious about this.

Like with another poster here, I also need weight on my chest as well as being next to my metal toys on my chest in order to sleep good. But it has no affect on what I dream. So apparently I also have sensory issues and need some pressure there. It does wonders for me. This disorder is as severe as it gets but I'm not going to change at this late date since it has been happening for so long.

Well my friend, I was diagnosed with Asperger's 16 years ago, back when I was 14. Of course, my wife is no toy. But hey, I still sleep with her every night. I appologize for that. However, what don't you want to care about people who are in relationships with other human beings? That, of course, is off topic. But again, I sincerly apologize if my post offended anyone

I've never really thought of it being different than the majority of society. I sleep with a stuffed animal my boyfriend have me. When he's gone I pile more on the bed. There are so many things that I thought were 'normal' that aren't.

I don't sleep with a toy but I have to roll up in the blankets for the sensation of being enveloped. I could suppose you could equate it with being "hugged". If the blankets don't provide enough pressure because they're too loose I struggle to sleep. Also on a side note because I have the aspie habit of curling up in small spaces I can't sleep if the blankets are too far down.

I sleep with the same blanket every night. The way it smells is more important than how it feels. I like it to smell like my kids.
