i understand the concept of same foods, frankly when i remembered we were out of oatmeal to go with my eggs (the same breakfast ive eaten for a year) i told my mom i refused to eat breakfast the next morning, but what about same restaurants? once i go to a restaurant and find ONE item i like on it i always go to the same one and order the same food. my boyfriend and i have been to the same italian restaurant (vinzo's) since we started dating. we sit in the same spot towards the middle and i always order chicken bruschetta. does anyone else have same restaurants?

Yes! I do.
There are a few local restaurants I go to all the time and order the same few items. I thought it was just me lol

So,...I have to ask,...what made you go to "Vinzo's" the first time? What made you choose the chicken bruschetta?

The point I am trying to make here is there are so many great places to eat, and so many great dishes to sample,...why not have that "first time" experience over and over again?

my boyfriend suggested we try it, he knows i love pasta dishes so he brought me there the first time after MUCH apprehension. i ordered the chicken bruschetta because it sounded simple, what's not to love about chicken and butter noodles lol! im also a picky eater in general though, the only meat i eat is chicken.

i understand the point you're trying to make i think it's just a concept of comfort? i know all the waitresses and waiters that work there and i can anticipate everything that will happen, the seat, my food, and the atmosphere. if that doesn't make sense i can try to explain it again just let me know. :)

I understandyour fixation on items in restaurants and established routines. I was that way, and then I started traveling. I found that I could not be rigid about food and restaurants. Soon I liked culinary experiences. Anymore I enjoy the unique.

Hate to say it, l usually order the same thing over and over. You know what to expect. If it's an excellent place, then you might try specials because they do a great job.

I tend to eat the same things over and over. My routine. I will wear pretty much my favorite things over and over. I like pretty much the same nice people around me. I think this is called habits. However for autistic people it's repetitive habits bordering on OCD. Doesn't bother me at all. Not sure what the issue is. Some routines are needed in life so that life feels doable.

I love trying new and exotic foods too, especially when I travel, and when I cook!
But I do have a few favorite local restaurants that always keep me coming back for the same stuff, lol

I agree, though I go to a couple because of their hash browns for breakfast. One makes hash browns with onions and green peppers and tops it with sausage gravy, the other has The Pirates Bounty, hash browns with ham, bacon and sausage folded over a sour cream filling and topped with melted cheddar. I go for comfort food.

Yes, I do this too. And then it's devastating when for some reason they don't have the food you want. Haven't eaten in a restaurant for ages, though.

Ignoring the restaurant part as I've never had a good time in one, I do order the same delivery every time. I find removing food as something to consciously spend much time thinking about is infinitely more valuable than the experience of new tasty things. It's about the depth of peace that can be achieved.

i agree fully, routines are what keep me grounded. when i told my boyfriend i needed to try a new deodorant he was shocked LOL! (my current one is a spray kind and ive noticed it feels sticky recently and the smell is SO strong, im thinking of trying the brand "native" one of my favorite autistic youtubers paige layle recommends it, i trust her judgement :))

wow! im a huge fan of hashbrowns but i know id go and have to get the sausage gravy and all the different meats and sourcream off. im too picky for my own good it feels like haha! ;)
comfort food is such a must in this world, a huge comfort food for me was a greek restaurant "olea" my mom and i used to go to every thursday when we moved i think five years back? they shut down a few months ago and i miss it dearly, i can't find anything similar it hurts my heart. :(

I do that, too. Experimentation is disappointing almost all the time.
I AGREE FULLY! my parents wanted a new sandwich shop and i felt forced to say yes so i did. they didn't have the chicken for my sandwich they offered "turkey or ham" after they said no to a refund, so my mom gave me her sandwich they supposedly "had the chicken for." it was awful i went to bed immediately after, i didn't even eat dinner. unfortunately i can be stubborn more times than not.

I usually don't eat out due to health reasons and being really picky about the way I cook, but when I do I usually have like 1 or 2 items I like to get from any particular place. I know what I like at this point and it's much simpler that way instead of experimenting with something I know I'm going to hate right off the bat (like 99% of seafood items).

With that said, I'm much happier just frying up some sardines and broccoli or cooking my own burgers at home

i understand, eating out can be rough i think the only reason i do it so often is for the "convenience?" my dad doesn't have the time to cook when he gets home at seven pm, so we order out quite frequently. i love that you're comfortable with cooking dinners for yourself, i only know how to cook a few basic foods. (i can also relate i only like a few seafoods and only eating chicken can cause problems in restaurants).

If I did not experiment, I would have missed some glorious tastes.Traveled to Oaxaca to take cooking lessons and try all their moles and enjoyed such things as tuna shaved ice. Tuna is cactus fruit.

This week I cooked some Ropa Vieja and it was delicious in tortillas, with guacamole.

Sure. Murrieta's- in Reno. Best Mexican restaurant in town. Shredded beef taco, cheese enchilada with salsa verde, refried beans, rice and lots of chips on the side. Occasionally washed down with a Dos Equis Amber.

It's what I order every time. So sue me! :D

I like my eggs and coffee in the morning. I rarely eat anything else. For dinner, I am a little more flexible. It's usually in the realm of dead bird...chicken, to be exact. :)

Last night my spouse made a Chicken and Fennel stew with sweet Italian Sausage. Very rich. She used boneless thighs which are tastier than the breast meat.
