Hello

Hello, my name is Axler I am 37 years old and currently plagued with insomnia.

Several years ago I caught that movie, Mary and Max, and it really rang true for me. Not that I am an obese Jewish man who loves smirf like cartoons, just the challenges he faced and his feelings about being a whole person, not someone who needs to be "cured", facing social situations and being clueless about the rules.
I thought little of this at the time, I was simply enjoying a good movie, but I gave been doing some research and more and more this started to answer some questions and make sense of how I am with humans. I brought it up with my councillor and she agreed to begin some testing to see if I am on that spectrum.
So I'm here at 5 am, wondering if I can actually be part of a community and interact with people that may understand. I'm here to learn as I continue to try to understand who I am and why I have so much trouble making and maintaining relationships and simply interacting with humans without either confusing or insulting them.

I'll lurk around and try to find the confidence to join a conversation, but please be gentle.

Thank you,

Axler

Hi! I really related to what you said about confusing or offending people when you try to interact, and the insomnia issue. Switching off my brain is impossible! I hope you make friends here, maybe I can be one of them. ☺

Welcome. I've tried so hard to not see normal people as the enemy but it seems so easy for them to write me off as rude or a jerk. Its a tough dynamic. I feel your pain!

Hugs

Hi Axler, welcome to the forum :) People here are very friendly and accepting, it's a good place to come to read about people's experiences and in doing so learn more about yourself.
