Hello :)

Joon87

New Member
I will make this short, as I tend to turn everything into a very boring, non intelligent essay.
I was diagnosed with asperger's only 2 years ago. I had some issues talking about it, I am very shy... but I decided to stop lurking and try to talk to people I may relate to. I sometimes see snarky comments on other boards, but I felt safe posting here.
Hello!

Thank you! I hope to post and make sense in the future, since I often can't articulate even the most simple thought. But I think writing feels more natural, I may gain some confidence after my diagnosis, here. Thanks again for the welcome

Welcome Joon87.
I have a feeling it will help you being here.
Feel free to ask or talk about anything you like.
This is a good place to begin. :)

Hi @Joon87 and welcome to the community.
This is one of the friendliest and most supportive places on the internet that I've ever known so I'm sure you'll be able to relax and open up here. You are amongst your own. There's people of all ages and from all over the world, including plenty from the UK (including myself) :)

Hello Joon dear and warm welkome , believe me or not im actually also somewhat shy in meeting and talking to new people but yet here i am :) just take this in YOU'RE pace and according to youre comfort level dear and you`l be just fine in here

Thank you for the nice replies, I am kind of stupid and trying to figure out how to quote people individually, but it isn't working so I can't reply as I want! These things take me a while, but I will figure it out... trials and many errors ahead of me! hehe. Thanks again for all the kind replies. I am now glad I posted. I get this weird nervousness and didn't even want to check on here again, I thought I was being too brave posting! haha! I feel a bit more relaxed already thanks to all the nice responses
ps. I love how the emojis give you the name of the emotion, I very nearly used a grimace, I learnt something new, I have been sending people that emoji for a long time thinking it was a funny looking smile! I thought I had no issues with this part, but I have recently learnt that I do misunderstand...even emojis! hahah, I've got to laugh at myself a bit

Thank you so much! I just pressed quote and nothing came up before! I probably should have read the instruction part if it exists, but I often don't read past rules. Thank you so much! Do you find it better to talk about things online? I have never tried before, so I feel it could be risky. I stopped all social media in my name a year ago and feel much better having left facebook. I had a a bad experience with talking online person to person. Thanks again for that, I don't think I'd have figured it out otherwise

If you press the "quote" text/button on somebody's post the whole post is copied into the quote buffer. If you highlight some text on a post then a box pops up underneath asking if you want to quote that text. Again if you press it it will be added to the quote buffer. You can select multiple quotes at once.
When you come to write your reply you'll see a box underneath the text window saying "insert quotes". When you press it a window will pop up with all the posts you quoted (the contents of the quote buffer) allowing you to remove any if you should want to. Once you confirm in that pop up window, all the quoted posts/text will be inserted into your post wherever the cursor was when you pressed the "insert quotes" button.

Hope that helps :)

hehehe I understand! I struggle with phonecalls for some reason, and I struggle seeing people other than my Mum recently .. I think people talk too fast and too much, I learnt how to cope until I stopped being able to and my boss asked me to take some time off, assuring me I'd keep my position. I didn't know I was autistic at that point, just 'quirky' was the word I always heard. I sometimes understand how people feel, but sometimes I am wrong. I think it's only because I worry I am annoying people, etc. As I have no frame of reference to understand otherwise. Unless I was not myself.
hahaha. I do think I can read people quite well, perhaps it's being pessimistic and overthinking, I often think eveyone views me as I do myself etc, since that is how I am.
I am going off topic, sorry, I suppose I feel too comfortable already. Thank you

PS) I have been off work 2 years now, I was incorrect about my diagnosis date, I am terrible at dates and just checked, it was June 2017 I was diagnosed. Sorry, so a year and a half... not 2 years. It seems longer yet shorter, I struggled with it as it was actually very quick...

You're no inconvenience Joon. That was a simple question to answer. We get much more complex questions here. This is a community of people learning to understand both themselves and a strange world around them. How to post quotes is straightforward compared to most other questions....
I hope you continue to feel comfortable here. "Quirky" is something we often hear when NT people are trying to be positive, along with "eccentric". There are much less kind terms used too, but I'm happy being quirky ;)
