Hi all. I'm 32 and diagnosed with Asperger's at age 19. I can hide it pretty well but I feel very isolated among a world of neurotypical people. I'm glad to see others on this site who are dealing with AS.

My main interest is writing fiction. Is anyone else trying to write a novel? Do you ever tend to repeat single words and short phrases, typing away and not even realizing it? I also get too detailed and don't describe the big picture/context as well as I should to provide readers with enough background.

Welcome. I couldn't write a novel but I have started writing about my life as a kid/teenager as a sort of self-help therapy. I may put it on here as a blog at some point although it does deal with some adult themes so may have to edit these out/tone them down a bit. Good luck with your writing though, nice to have another creative type on here.

Hi and welcome.
I always have to edit my writing because of repeated words and phrases. In fact I do that unintentionally while speaking as well. I am not a writer except just journal and correspondence.

Hi Billy, Great to hear from you. I am new too. I am a writer and have struggled for years to finish a novel. I can just about write short stories, but these are usually about one tiny thing, and similarly with novels I get too caught up in the planning and the detail that I don't seem able to see the whole or finish it. Very frustrating! I share your feeling of isolation too, hence coming her to meet like minds when lately I finally realised what it might be that's making me me...

What sort of genre or stories are you writing?
