Hi I think I might have autism?

Hi I'm a 30 year old woman. I joined this forum. Because I posted on the selective mutism subreddit and someone asked if I've ever been checked for autism. I haven't so I joined this forum..Are there any websites or youtube channels that I can check out to learn about autism? I really want to get a diagnosis. What happens during an autism diagnosis?

In elementary school, middle school, high school, college I never spoke to anyone. I never speak in public. I feel unable to speak but I really want to speak. I have no friends and I've never had any friends. I stopped taking college classes because I was being bullied..

I hope I can make friends on this forum and learn about autism.
So ...here's a list of youtube channels that I am subscribed to, that I either watch a lot, or have watched some of. Every one is autistic and provides valuable insights about being on the spectrum.

There are a number of self tests online to give you an idea. The Aspie Quiz and RAADS are two widely used and respected ways to give yourself an evaluation. Try them out and see where you stand, they will give you some insight about yourself. Then you can decide whether to get a formal diagnosis.

Your description of yourself sounds a lot like me. Read the About section in my info for a comparison. Others have written similar things about themselves here, but I don't remember any specific ones. Hang around here and you will absolutely learn about autism and how to deal with it. Or at least how others have dealt with it.

Firstly - welcome to the Forums

To feel like an alien is not unusual and the language of being on the wrong planet is known amongst us.
Do hang out in the Forum for a while. THe search engine is good, so you could look for the word diagnosis and see what that throws up by way of threads. Do read a bit, and get a consensus of what people's experience has been, but remember that you are you and your experience may not match anyone else's

Although I am self-diagnosed, I feel you might benefit from a diagnosis. All colleges have to provide some accommodations and some may have an organization to provide help and to connect you with the ND community at the college. The online ASD quizzes like the AQ are a good place to start.

Hello and welcome @ifeellikeanalien! I think the threads on this forum could be a very valuable resource for you. Lots of first-hand experience with autism here, and people at very different stages of understanding and accepting it.
