If I had a party

They're amazing. Just don't do the supposedly "authentic" Townsend's recipe that uses boiled ham. It needs proper sausage meat ;)

The recipe I have lists breakfast sausage but it says to roll them in crushed Cornflakes before frying them. Cornflakes cereal vs. panko breadcrumbs???

When I make home made ones I use home made panko- style crumbs, though oats work pretty well too. I did try cornflakes once but didn't like the result.

AFAIK US breakfast sausage is the closest to UK sausage meat you'll find in general use. I take it that's what you guys use to make sausage gravy? If so it looks to be about right. I watch a few channels about US food because I've become quite curious in recent years.

Sounds like y'all need some old-fashioned Country Gravy to go along with those crispy bangers. ;)

I keep on meaning to have a go at that gravy/biscuits (or scones as they're known here) but every time I suggest it Mrs Autistamatic goes pale at the thought! Definitely not a dish for anyone shy of the calories!

I've always wanted to try that, too. I'm in Australia though so with things like that I have to make it myself and just hope it's something like the original.

I'm make some with cornflakes and some with Panko-style crumbs and see which one tastes better. I never make sausage gravy but lots of folks love it. Most people use a spicy sausage, like hot Italian sausage, to make the gravy. Biscuits and gravy is too heavy for breakfast for me but a scotch egg would be delicious.

I've been watching Jamie Oliver's new cooking show using 5 ingredients. He certainly knows how to cook.

I forgot that people eat gravy n biscuits for breakfast. I, and most people I know, eat it for supper and it's one of my favorites. Gravy n biscuits, eggs and baked apples. :)

meh.. not a party person. I'll just sit around in the corner and try not to get in the way. However, i would love some punch because i don't drink or do any of that stuff. and maybe some nachos would be awesome too!!! if anyone would like to sit around in the corner with me, you are more than welcome to. ;)

I realize I'm the hostess, but I'll probably be sitting in a corner somewhere, too.
This could end up a 'claim your corner' party. lol
