If you were a little girl in the 1980s, I know how to make you smile

80's baby. 90's kid.. But I watched Knight rider, reruns, as a kid. And I will admit 80's Pontiac trans ams looked cool...never played with Barbies though....or Atari

I played with my sister’s Barbies by having them encounter my Jason action figure. My sister was not amused.

I wasn't. But my daughter was born in '88 and I was an avid garage sale hunter when the kids were small mainly looking for cool toys to collect for them. Some I sought out specifically because she liked them were:

Wuzzles

Care Bears

And another that was really more for me because I liked well made figurines and accesories: Smurfs

These are just pics from internet and I have many more of each. I still have them all packed away in case she wants them at some point. But I would still like to find the Smurf Windmill and Gargamel's castle for under a million dollars. ;)

Yeah Lost Boys. Vampires. Homoerotica undertones. And.... The doors!

Talking of 80's, I'm sure some will remember this:

I almost forgot this one. Little Foot from Land Before Time. It was instantly her bestest bedtime buddy and I found three of them (in case of mishaps). As far as I know it still is on her bed today.

This was the biggest deal in 1980s Scandinavia, I must have watched these two a hundred times. Pippi Longstocking and Ronja the Robbers Daughter. Scandinavian heroes :) Very 80s.

We had the puppets from Pizza Hut for doing Book It. (An elementary school reading program.)

Those opening credits got me obsessed with movie soundtracks. James Horner, James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer, Alan Menken, and Danny Elfman.

This thread went down a segue I was not expecting. I thought lots of women in their late 30s through their 40s would comment and like this, but it's been mostly men. OMG you guys have reminded me of so many toys and TV shows. @Tom I loved all those shows and toys, just like your daughter. @Forest Cat , I was a big fan of Pippi Longstocking. It was dubbed in the states, and very popular with kids here. And Knight Rider??!! OMG! I would race in the door after school to watch that.

Barbie and the Rockers was a popular doll from the 1980s that nearly every girl had or wanted. She looked totally new wave, and came with a little cassette tape of songs sung by her "band". There was also a TV movie that played several days in a row, like a miniseries, after school.

All the girls I knew would sing those songs on the school bus or on the playground. They would also argue heatedly about whether Barbie and the Rockers or Jem and the Holograms were cooler.

Jem was way cooler.

So I really like where this thread is going, and how it's evolving. Everyone, keep showing off the toys and shows you remember.

Yes, those hand puppets too. Still have them as well. :)

I was little in the 90s, not the 80s but I remember some of these things too, especially Land Before Time :) I had the toys from McDonalds.

Love this post. My daughter had a little barbie camera at age 5. She did a short storyline with her barbie dolls and we would watch it later and laugh so hard. She was doing improv at that age. She had a little snarky skit with the cute little 5 year-old voice.

Bring back the 80's. Why did it feel so right?

The Land Before Time was such a sad movie. I still get a little teary eyed when I think of Little Foot's mama.
