The most important part of finding out I was on the spectrum was that I could release some of the guilt I carried, thinking I needed to try harder (even though I already felt I was struggling just to survive). It’s a heavy burden to carry, thinking about yourself as lazy or stupid.
You still need to work your tail off, but maybe now it will be easier to direct your energy into things you will be good at. (I test very highly on IQ but nearly flunked high school…)
