So I had norovirus in January. It was horrible. I couldn’t eat for days. I’ve been reading a lot about it. It lasts on surfaces for weeks. It lasts in still water for years. Hand sanatizer doesn’t kill it. You are only immune for 6 months. You are not immune to different strains of the virus.

I’m scared cause I have juice in the fridge that takes forever to go through for me. I drank some when I was sick. I think this counts as still water. Also I have frozen food in the freezer with a little bit of ice crystals. I think this counts as still water. Norovirus can survive in freezers.

I’m afraid of letting anyone in my apartment because of left over germs. I still haven’t disinfected all surfaces.

Under the program I’m under they can only do that every once in a while. Don’t know who else could do it. Don’t know what that has to do with still water and germs in my apartment though.

It's odd how norovirus is sooo hard to kill and everyone only has 6 months of immunity to it, yet people I know hardly ever get norovirus. I've only had it ONCE in adulthood, and that was when I was exposed to it in the care home where I worked, there was an outbreak there at the time and there was no air purifiers or anything like that and it was in the middle of winter so all windows were shut. It was like breathing in stale air.

I had a few vomiting viruses when I was a little kid but I didn't have them after I turned 8 years old, and I didn't vomit at all since until I was 27, for the reason stated above (care home work). I wasn't washing my hands every minute of the day either. I do now though, because my emetophobia has got worse and I keep panicking about catching not only norovirus but covid as well.
