Japanese man celebrates six years with cartoon bride

Of course, there are those that see the potential for sex bots. It's already in the works with non-animated sex dolls, so this is no stretch of the imagination. A strange new world ahead.

Some may see intelligence as intelligence, artificial or biological, and may not separate the two like some others would. I can see human and non-biological life partnering as a very real conclusion in the not-so-distant future.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. There will still be societal shaming and stigma of such a thing because it will be seen as a threat to the monopoly of sex, which might keep it to the fringes of society.

On the other hand, the dating market is so inequitable, the lonliness epidemic so lethal, and society so inhumanely indifferent to the relative 'losers' of the 'new game'. This technological solution to a broken culture might just become an unstoppable force.

What bugs me most about this is that everything in the article says it's the 6th anniversary, but the man and cartoon figure in the picture are both holding up 7 fingers.

As I keep on mentioning, society places too much emphasis on finding a mate and starting a family.

Some people aren't suited to being in a significant other romantic relationship.
It is like forcing a square peg in a round hole.
It is not the end of the world to be single. <shrug>

"Whatever floats your boat..."
"Whatever bakes your cookies..."

Some of us have a natural aversion to procreation.
There is a growing trend in this in various countries these days.

I have always been an anti-natalist.

Honestly there's quite a few things that could go into this, too many things that society places that emphasis on, and to many, you're a freaking loser if you dont fall in line.

Very frustrating, that. I always get all fired up just thinking about it.

The upsides of being single:

- freedom
- saves money
- ...profit!

A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we are the cure. What planet? You're in the Matrix. 😁

Very true. We know we are the wise ones. Also worth noting your worth is inherent and no ones subjective opinion/ values can take that away...
